the team making a valuable distinct, personal contribution to the project. Throughout the three years of this degree the students have refined their creative skills, acquired knowledge and most importantly, they have grown in character.
Enthusiasm, commitment and a respect for one another are just some of the qualities that they have had to draw upon to bring these projects to life.
They are filmmakers who are driven to become masters of the craft of storytelling - stories that transport audiences on emotional journeys of entertainment, discovery and insight.
And having come to the end of this course they now embark on a new journey - one that will require persistence and ap- plication if they are to succeed - but this is the journey that will define them as filmmakers.
If I may share a parting thought with you all. It is held in the notion that truly creative work is informed by the unique - the distinctly individual understanding we each have of the world.
And I offer three quotes that might illuminate this notion:
The person you are is a thousand times more interesting than the person you might ever hope to be.
And these from Johann Wolfgang van Goethe - If you would create something, you must be something.
And;
Until one is committed there is always hesitancy.
The chance to draw back.
Always ineffectiveness...
Whatever you can do or dream, you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
On behalf of all the staff in the discipline I wish all students great success in all that they do.
Associate Professor Geoff Portmann Head of Film, Screen and Animation.
The Studio Production House Model or “Studio System” is not exclusively an approach for learning, but is also a method of teaching. The Studio System is designed so that each student will receive the opportunity to work in an environment that mimics the processes of professional filmmaking from development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution. QUT has introduced five individual Studios.
Each Studio has the opportunity to make its own set of rules, guidelines, style and culture.
There are four film Production Studios: Blueprint, Greenhouse, Red Panda and Yell-Oh as well as an animation Studio, Brass Monkey. You will be able to tell throughout the booklet which production was completed by which Studio from the colour of the film’s title: Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.
say within each Studio when it comes to commissioning and developing projects and content across their individual Studio.
2015 saw the introduction of the first Studio Heads.
Blueprint Studio was run by Ashlee Marx,
Greenhouse Studio was run by Emmie Seaton, Red Panda Studio was run by Rachel Jefferis, Yell-Oh Studio was run by Georgia Duby and Brass Monkey Studio was run by Trendt Boe and Felicity Morland.
