Under the conditions of the award, the grant must be allocated to promoting the winner's architectural education at the Atelier.

Libraries

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of (1) a competition in design and planning, (2) general excellence in architectural studies and practical office work, and (3) personal character. The scholarship, which has an approximate annual value of к50, is intended for the payment of fees at Melbourne University or travel expenses for the purpose of developing the architectural education of those who are awarded scholarships. The aim of this competition – which is open to architectural students in Victoria – is to promote the careful study and recording of existing buildings of architectural and historical interest by means of accurate drawings and faithful drafting.

This competition - open to architecture students in Victoria under the age of thirty - is designed to help promote knowledge of architectural sketching and cultivate a keen sense of observation on the part of the younger members of the profession. Prizes worth two guinea and one guinea, together with certificates from the R.V.I.A., will be awarded to the authors of the first and second placed sketches respectively.

Examinations

Candidates prevented by illness or other serious reasons from attending the Annual Examination may be given a separate examination by the Faculty on presentation of satisfactory evidence of the reason for the absence from the Annual Examination. The circumstances (if any) under which candidates in the several Faculties may be admitted to the supplementary examinations in February will be announced at the end of the academic year, 1949. When a candidate at the annual examination is significantly affected by illness during the course of the examination in any subject, the Faculty may (on application submitted to the Registrar within three stages of such examination, supported by medical or other appropriate documentation) order the examiners in the relevant subject to take into account the circumstances. However, such an application will not be taken into account, unless the candidate either during or immediately after the test must have notified the supervisor in charge of the circumstances claimed in the application.

Appointments Board

The board has established an Odd Jobs Bureau to serve students who wish to earn money in their spare time during their studies. The union is an organization of students, graduates and employees, which must form a common center for the many important activities of university life outside the lecture hall and the laboratory.
