For all examinations during the course, students may be required to present themselves for oral and/or additional written or clinical tests between examination periods and students must be available at short notice. If this is not possible and the student fails this test in a single exam, the student must be given another similar exam in the second exam and in this case at least one of the examiners must be a member of the exam committee. The conditions for the use of electronic calculators in the exam are approved by the dean of the faculty at the proposal of the exam committee, taking into account the following requirements:—.

If your work during the year has been significantly impeded by illness or other cause, you must notify the Faculty Office and make a written application on the form available (with supporting documentation if appropriate) before any of the the exams. but within three days of the examination. 2.1.2 (a) Where applicants have not attempted the Victorian Higher School Certificate examination, their qualifications will as far as possible be given such status as will enable their academic merit to be compared with that of other applicants for selection in the relevant quota or sub-quota for that course. In assessing the relative likelihood of success of applicants who have not attempted any subject in the Victorian Higher School Certificate examination prescribed by the particular selection principles as a prerequisite subject for a course, a selection committee will award appropriate credit an applicant who has successfully completed a course which, in the opinion of the selection committee, is not substantially different in content or standard from the prescribed prerequisite course. No overseas applicant will be selected in preference to an Australian applicant of equal or superior merit.

34;2.5.2 Special selection principles may stipulate that when considering an overseas candidate for selection, the availability of a certain type of education in any other country and the existence of any agreed assistance programs to any other country may be taken into account. 1 For candidates who have been selected on the basis of passing the comprehensive examination for the higher education certificate or its equivalent in one of the two years preceding the year of selection, places in the quota for the following year are reserved for candidates at their request, provided that the faculty or study the committee shall determine the number of seats to be reserved in any year taking into account, where applicable, the number of candidates who have applied for reservation of seats in previous years. Specific selection principles may further provide that deferment may be granted with or without reason for other categories of applicants who have been selected.

Pursuant to Regulation 3.3, section 1(1), special principles of selection may provide for the imposition of conditions under which admission may be granted. 34;4.1 Special principles may stipulate that for applicants who have been selected for a second or later year, places in the following year's quota will be reserved for applicants at their request, provided that a faculty or study council determines the number of places must be reserved in any year, taking into account, where appropriate, the number of applicants who requested the reservation of places in previous years. 34;4.3 Where an applicant has been granted a deferred place in terms of paragraph 4. 1, the applicant must notify the relevant faculty or board of studies by 31 December in the year for which the extension was granted, or by any earlier date that may be prescribed by special principles of selection: a) whether the place thus reserved will be occupied in that subsequent year or not;.

The reference to the Group 1 subject 'English' can alternatively be read as the Group 1 subject 'English as a second language', which is available to students who qualify under the VISE rules. OR (b) complete a full-time TOP and meet the course entry requirements for a degree registered with the Australian Council on Awards in Advanced Education at a College of Advanced Education recognized for such courses. purposes by the universities, provided that the courses taken in the TOP have been passed in one sitting and provided that the program for which the applicant is eligible is a program recognized by the universities. University admission applicants who have not sat for the VISE Year 12 examinations may be admitted to a university course on the basis of comparable qualifications.

VUAC will determine, on the basis of their qualifications, whether such applicants have met the university's entry requirements or not, and will advise the relevant course authorities accordingly. With regard to admission to Monash University, candidates should note that from admission in 1985, candidates who have met normal matriculation requirements from a recognized Australian university outside Victoria must have completed Year 12 study in an approved English subject, except, that the university may, for reasons it considers unusual, exempt a candidate from this requirement. All universities have special admission arrangements for applicants who do not meet the normal admission requirements.

In general, scoring and point selection are complex and must be seen in the context of information that, although used by selection boards as the main and often sole decision-making criterion, is limited to a single, well-defined category of applicants. , as defined in 5.2 to 5.4 below.
