GENERAL INFORMATION

Further details are available from the office of the Secretary for Research and Postgraduate Studies. A full list of the subjects required for the degree is given in the Details of Subjects. It was found necessary to impose subject quotas on certain subjects of the degree course.

Full-time students are expected to take four subjects per year, and the normal duration of the Bachelor of Commerce degree is thus three years. It follows that for part-time students the duration of the Bachelor of Commerce degree is (normally) six years, but the maximum length of the course is limited to nine years. Candidates will be informed in the first week of the first semester of the assessment procedures for essays, class work, term exams, mid-term exams and the annual exam or other required work.

If you cannot sit an exam, you must immediately inform the office of the Associate Dean or the Assistant Registrar (Economics and Commerce) in writing together with an explanation of the reason. The decision of the Council is final and will be reported to the next full meeting of the Academic Council. At the end of the Annual Examinations, the record of any student who has made unsatisfactory progress for the year is reviewed by a Student Progress Committee and disciplinary action may be taken.

A student who wishes to enroll in an optional course for the third time must first obtain the consent of the head of the department or the subject holder before completing the Course Plan or re-enrolling. enrollment. The faculty can cancel course enrollment if it turns out that the student has enrolled in an optional course for the third time without the permission of the head of the department or the course instructor. The Giblin Library is primarily a reference and research library for faculty staff, but graduate and undergraduate students also have access to its resources.

Persons who have completed the Bachelor of Commerce degree and who have completed a three-year sequence in accounting can apply for provisional membership of the company. THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SECRETARIES AND ADMINISTRATORS Persons who have completed the bachelor's programme, including accounting and law sequences, can apply for exemption from eight of the thirteen subjects in the Institute's tests. The institute requires that Professional Year students must have completed a minimum of 50 weeks of service with a state-authorised accounting firm in public practice prior to the start of the Professional Year.
