HSC unit credit and course requirements

HSC unit credit for VET courses can be accredited to the Preliminary and/or HSC pattern of study.

Furnishing School-based Apprenticeship (240 indicative hours)

accredited for a total of 4 units at the Preliminary and/or HSC level

attempt one mandatory unit of competency (CPCCOHS1001A or MSAPMOHS200A) and elective units of competency to bring course total to a minimum of 240 HSC indicative hours.

Furnishing School-based Apprenticeship (300 indicative hours)

accredited for a total of 5 units at the Preliminary and/or HSC level

attempt one mandatory unit of competency (CPCCOHS1001A or MSAPMOHS200A) and elective units of competency to bring course total to a minimum of 300 HSC indicative hours.

To count a course towards the HSC program of study students must satisfy the course completion criteria as required by the Board of Studies. Refer to Section 8.4 of the Assessment, Certification and Examination (ACE) Manual.

Access including access by students in Years 9 and 10 (Stage 5) This course is for students undertaking a school-based apprenticeship.

AQF VET qualification

To attain Certificate III in Cabinet Making (LMF32109) students must achieve 28 units of competency including:

a) 6 core units of competency b) 22 elective units of competency

minimum of 1 unit from Group A

minimum of 8 units from Groups B and D for Furniture Pathway

minimum of 8 units from Group C and D for Kitchens and Bathrooms Pathway up to 13 units from Groups E and F

Group F, up to 5 relevant units may be chosen from units not already selected from Groups A to E, or units available in the LMF Training Package or other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses

units must be aligned at Certificate II level (max 1 unit), Certificate III level (max 5 units) or Certificate IV level (max 1 unit)

units selected from other Training Packages and accredited courses must be relevant to the qualification outcome and not duplicate units available within the qualification.
