COVER PICTURE This 90 bushel crop of Avon oats grown on the Esperance Downs gives some idea of the potential of the area. Oat crops are expected to give regular yields of from 35 to 60 bushels an acre. This crop was sown in 1958—a fav- ourable year—on land orig- inally sown to pasture in 1953.
