Languages extension syllabuses

Purpose

To inform schools about the general implementation of the Languages extension senior syllabuses.

Background

The Authority has approved the following three syllabuses dated 2009 for general implementation with Year 12 students only in 2010:

• French Extension

• German Extension

• Indonesian Extension.

All schools offering one of these extension subjects will implement the relevant revised syllabus with Year 12 students only in 2010. The syllabuses have been revised to complement the parent syllabuses in French, German and Indonesian dated 2008.

No student in Year 12 will be able to record semester units of the Authority subjects French Extension (2002), German Extension (2002) or Indonesian Extension (2003) in a learning account as of 2010.

Mailing of syllabuses

Each school offering the subjects will receive two printed syllabuses.

Schools that offer or wish to offer any of these subjects, and have not been included in the mailing, should contact the Administrative Officer (Publications), phone 3864 0330.

Schools that wish to order further copies of any syllabus should contact the Administrative Officer (Publications), phone 3864 0330.

Attachments and web links

The following resources for the syllabus can be found on the QSA website (www.qsa.qld.edu.au) under Years 10-12 > 11 and 12 subjects.

• Syllabus in PDF format. (The PDF version is the official syllabus against which work programs will be approved.)

• Microsoft Word syllabus.

• Work program requirements. (Schools will find this useful in preparing work programs.)

What schools need to do

Schools may commence writing work programs in accordance with the relevant Language extension senior syllabus dated 2009.

Schools are to submit work programs through their QSA district office using the WPonline database.

Please follow the advice on the QSA website.
