Prep – Year 9
Applying to be a 2013 National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) marker
Purpose
To invite teachers to apply to mark for the 2013 NAPLAN Writing Tests.
Background
The Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) is responsible for the administration and marking of the Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) Tests. Students in Queensland and other states and territories will sit the national tests on 14, 15 and 16 May 2013.
Each year, the QSA appoints registered and retired teachers from a marker pool to mark student responses for the NAPLAN Writing Tests and, each year, the QSA recruits new markers to add to the pool.
The primary objective of the marking operation is to mark student responses reliably according to the national rubric. Markers gain valuable professional experience and are paid for their marking. Marker training may also contribute to the continuing professional development requirements for teacher registration.
To be eligible for the 2013 marker pool, new applicants (and previous markers who did not mark in 2011 and 2012) must attend a recruitment session in February and March 2013. Markers should be aware that not all applicants will be offered a position.

Applications are now open to be a 2013 NAPLAN marker. This is a casual position. Registered
