Expressions of Interest for BPS Meets 2011

If your club would like to host a meet in 2011, please submit your preferred date(s) on the enclosed form. These are to be returned by 29 July 2010. A draft 2011 calendar for known international, national and state meets will be circulated electronically in July. Please send in your application by the closing date.

Welcome to our newest club

Welcome to a new club formed this month, the Terrey Hills Terriers, whose members (15 so far) swim at the Terrey Hills Swim School. Please see our website for session times. Our other recently formed clubs are also attracting good numbers - the Georges River Bull Sharks (17) and ITAC Warriors (7).

Go Country Relay Meet subsidy

Country clubs Clarence River, Murrumbidgee, Port Macquarie and Tuggeranong have between them submitted 55 names for the Go Country funds for the Relay Meet in July. We look forward to great competition and fun in company with our country members.

Go Country Aerobic swimming project

An extension of the Go Country funding will allow MSNSW to send a presenter to our country regions to advise on the aerobics scheme, to explain how the aerobics scheme works and start up aerobics swimming sessions. If your club is located outside of the Sydney Metro area, you will be forwarded an Expression of Interest form. Please return this form to the Branch office by 16 July 2010.

Masters Swimming NSW Monthly News — June 2010 2

Aerobics: new name?

As flagged at our AGM by the MSNSW delegate to the national meeting, Masters Swimming Australia is keen to find a new name for what is currently known as the aerobics program, because going by that name it can easily be confused with water aerobics (which it certainly is not). So put your thinking caps on for a new name that reflects what the aerobics program is really about.

Coaching Course 2010

Thirteen keen members attended the successful Level 1 Masters Coaching Course held on 19 & 20 June 2010. Thanks to the presenters for imparting great information to the

attendees and to Daphne Kulhan for assistance with the catering.

Annual Report

A copy of the 2009 Annual Report booklet was given to every delegate at the AGM. As the complete report is available on the NSW website, it was resolved that, in future years, print copies will only be forwarded on request.

Events Claim Board

MSNSW has decided to purchase an events claim board for use at all branch

championships. This claim board will also be made available for use at BPS meets on request.

Registrars’ important reminder

Due to entries on the database and in meets under different spelling of names and using the middle initial, the national results portal records multiple ID numbers. All registrars are reminded to remove the middle initial for all members’ names unless they are necessary to distinguish individuals e.g. John L. Smith. Please check your new members have not inserted a middle initial. When swimmers enter meets, race secretaries should ensure that they enter their names exactly as they appear on the database.

BizNet

Members are reminded about BizNet on the MSNSW website. BizNet is designed to support the MSNSW community by displaying information about businesses of current members.

You are able to use BizNet to advertise your business by entering your type of business and contact details directly. Any member who is looking for services for a particular type of business is able to look at the on-line directory and find a MSNSW member who may be able to provide that service.
