Monitoring requirements for 2019

Purpose

To inform schools of revised requirements for 2019 monitoring of Year 11 Authority subjects.

Background

Monitoring is the process in which district review panels consider a school’s assessment design and achievement decisions in each Authority subject after half the course of study has been completed. From January 2019, schools will implement the new senior curriculum and

assessment processes with students in Year 11. To support schools and panellists in managing the transition to the new QCE system, monitoring requirements have been revised for 2019.

Information

Schools will be required to submit evidence of student work as per current monitoring arrangements (VHA and SA folios) if the school:

• is offering an Authority subject in Year 11 for the first time in 2018

• is identified by the Quality Assurance Unit .

Monitoring in 2019 is optional for all other schools. Schools can choose to participate by completing the form overleaf.

These revisions do not affect the verification process, which will remain the same for Year 12 students in 2018 and 2019.

What you need to do

Bring this memo to the attention of all staff responsible for the preparation of monitoring submissions and staff who are panellists or panel chairs at your school.
