If a login is required to view the document, Training Environment for NAPLAN 2023 or NAPLAN 2023 login credentials. Schools should refer to the list of known device issues and LDB user manuals at www.assessform.edu.au and follow all requirements. Once the LDB is downloaded and installed, it must be opened and connected to the server before taking the NAPLAN tests.

Students become familiar with the different item types that will be in the NAPLAN tests. A pre-assigned school PIN will need to be accessed in the fileShare application in the QCAA portal. Please note that the unique timesheet card used to register on the platform must be retained by the staff member for future logins, including post-test platform logins when access to the Results Dashboard is required.

Although the NAPLAN coordinator can complete and confirm the checklist, the ultimate responsibility lies with the principal.

16 Test materials

  • Receipt of paper test materials
  • Check paper test materials received
  • Non-receipt of test materials
  • Security of test materials
  • Sorting Year 3 writing test materials prior to tests

By registering, the principal accepts this statement of compliance and acknowledges receipt of all submitted test materials. The principal (or delegate) must check the labels on the opaque bags to verify that the quantities indicated are sufficient. A preferred name can be added to any student's registered - usually legal - name on the cover of a named (overprinted) test book that the student will use, but it will not appear on the Individual Student Report (ISR) unless it is also changed online national assessment platform) (see section 14.1.3).

17 Scheduling

The purpose of this process is to ensure that test books are sorted into class groups for test administrators, to identify any unnamed test books required for students enrolled in 2023 and visiting students, and to separate named test books from those students who are exempt, withdraw or no longer exist. enrolled. If this is the case, the correct test scripts for each domain/year level should be read from the 2023 NAPLAN Test Administration Handbook for Teachers.

18 Preparing test administrators

  • Responsibilities of test administrators
  • Preparing test administrators
  • Test administrator pack
  • Preparing test rooms

These test administrator session slips contain a username – a code generated by the online national assessment platform (the Platform) – and a password. Factsheets 12–15 provide guidance on preparing TA packages www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/p-10/naplan/naplan-resources/naplan-qcaa-factsheets. The platform will not allow a user to proceed to the Delivery Dashboard until all items on the Preparation Dashboard have been reviewed and the checklist has been marked as completed by the client.

This slip should be given to the test administrator as part of their TA packet. If a principal or NAPLAN co-ordinator is administering a test session, they will need to log out of their own account in the platform and use a test administrator session slip. If students take the tests in their classroom, it is expected that a test administrator is present at all times.

If students are seated with a larger group (eg in a hall), the student-test administrator ratio should be.

For Year 3 written tests and alternative forms (disability accommodation), ensure that the 'No longer at this school' bubble is shaded and also change their participation status to 'no longer enrolled' in the platform. A copy of the completed form must be given to the parent/guardian, and the original signed form must be kept in the student's file. Printout: Parent/Guardian Withdrawal Record: Form S2003 Upon receipt of notification, the NAPLAN Coordinator or Principal will need to update the student's participation status in the online National Assessment Platform.

Directors must complete and submit a Disability Adjustment Request (including alternative formats) using the form. The description of each code as well as its acronym are listed in the table in Appendix 2. After students join a test session, each DAC is shown in the Test admin dashboard under a blue cross to the right of the student's name.

Applications to use alternative formats (disability adjustment) are made through the NAPLAN portal.

During testing

20 Test administrator responsibilities

Responsibilities of test administrators

Completing testbook covers

Where class information is not provided on named test books, test administrators should advise students to leave this field blank. If applicable, the bubble on the cover of the test book is shaded to indicate that a student has a language background other than English (LBOTE). This bubble should only be shaded for students whose main language spoken at home is a language other than English.

Do not shade the 'Absent' bubble on a test book until it has been confirmed that the student was unable to complete that test in a make-up session. NAPLAN coordinators must ensure that the colored bubbles for student participation match the students' records in the platform.

21 Managing events during testing

  • Adjustments for students with a temporary injury
  • Perceived errors in tests
  • Disruptive student behaviour
  • Catch-up sessions for absent students
  • Dealing with test disruptions
  • Managing student participation status after a test session

The NAPLAN coordinator should not set a student's participation status to 'absent' before the end of the testing window when there are no further opportunities for catch-up sessions, as this will block the student's access to that test. The test administrator is responsible for handling test disruptions as they occur in the test session. If the student's test attempt could not be paused, the test administrator must note the time lost.

In situations where a student has been paused and has not completed the test attempt, it is the NAPLAN coordinator and not the test. Done' (where necessary) and then complete the test session before the end of the test period. The NAPLAN Coordinator should not complete the testing session unless satisfied that the student's participation status is correct.

However, if the test is completed incorrectly, the NAPLAN Coordinator should contact the QCAA for advice.

These should be placed in a separate envelope (not supplied) clearly marked "Visiting students" and packed for return with the other test booklets. Please see the end of this section for instructions on returning test booklets for students coming from interstate. An electronic copy of the student's work must also be emailed to the QCAA by close of business on Monday 20 March 2023 ([email protected]).

Textbooks must be sent to the relevant state or territory test administration authority (ATA) in a Poste Express bag (not provided) no later than Wednesday 22 March 2023.

If you require the full version of the NAPLAN handbook for principals and NAPLAN coordinators - alternative format (paper), please contact QCAA via email ([email protected]) to request a copy. NAPLAN National Test Administration Protocols – Alternative (Paper) Formats provide detailed information on all aspects of administering NAPLAN paper-based tests. Breaches of NAPLAN's national test administration protocols – alternative format (paper) and allegations of cheating or misconduct are taken very seriously.

Allegations of breaches of the NAPLAN National Test Administration Protocols – Alternative Format (Paper) must be reported immediately. A scribe is not permitted for students who have a temporary injury (such as a broken arm) at the time of the writing test. At the end of the writing test time, the test administrator must add an appropriate amount of time to the spelling test.

Once the test is over, the scribe will write the chosen words in parentheses next to each of the words spelled by the student to avoid any confusion during the marking process.
