New senior pathway planning resources for Year 10 students

Purpose

To inform schools about:

• new senior pathway planning resources for Year 10 students

• distribution of new senior pathway planning resources.

Information

To support the implementation of the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system starting with Year 11 students in 2019, the QCAA has developed a suite of senior pathway planning resources for Year 10 students. The suite includes:

• plan your pathway poster — important steps for students to consider when planning their senior pathway

• QCE requirements poster — an overview of requirements for the QCE

• QCE learning options poster — a guide to the types of senior secondary courses students can choose, and how they contribute to a QCE and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)

• QCE factsheet — an outline of requirements for the QCE, including learning options, credit values and literacy and numeracy requirements.

What you need to do

• Distribute the QCE factsheet to all Year 10 students at your school.

• Encourage Year 10 students to explore the senior pathway planning page on the QCAA website: www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/senior/new-snr-assessment-te.

• Tell staff about the new senior pathway planning resources, and distribute copies of the posters to guidance officers and other relevant staff at your school.
