Hi Everyone and welcome back to another year at Roseworthy.

Just a reminder that this is a student newsletter, so if you want to make it more interesting than reading things written by me, make sure you send in articles, photos, etc to Judy so there is not enough room left for my things!

Changes for this year that you need to know about:

 Coveralls—this year the coveralls are being sold by the Adelaide University Union ($45 each). Until they get their store located on campus here (hopefully by mid- semester break), you will need to order them from their shop at the North Terrace campus (email [email protected]) - they can ship them up to Roseworthy for you if needed.

 Exchange students and students enrolled in the Agriculture programs can hire cover- alls from the Front Office in the Main Building (see Judy and Elaine)

 Coveralls cannot be worn into any lecture theatres, tutorial rooms, the Café, Tavern or offices. They are only meant to be worn for practical classes. You should take a sturdy plastic bag with you to practical classes in case your coveralls get soiled as you will be required to take them off there (so make sure you wear other clothes under your coveralls!).

 We recommend that you wash your coveralls separately to prevent transmission of nasties to your normal clothes.

 Student lockers—this year students are able to hire the lockers in the change room facilities of the Vet Building. See Elaine in the Front Office of the Main Building.

 Buses—there is a 5.15pm bus direct from Roseworthy to North Terrace every day of the week. This bus is in addition to the normal buses (see http://

sciences.adelaide.edu.au/locations/bus.html)

 Every Thursday this semester, there is a scheduled 2 hr lunch break. We will be using this time to put on various social activities (lunches, sports, trivia events, etc) as well as some information talks.

* This Thursday we will have a BBQ lunch open to all students and staff on campus.

The BBQ will be $2 per head. The bar will be open in the Tavern (but we remind all students that you should not consume alcohol if you have a practical in the afternoon).

In addition, various sporting and social clubs (from on and off campus) will be setting up tables to let you know of their existence.

 The 1st year students are able to join a peer mentor program (Animates) to give them someone to talk to about all sorts of things (study, courses, life in general). Look out for the mentors in their green shirts—the program is free to join.

This will be a busy year for you all. Good luck with all your studies and remember, If you’re not sure about something, ask someone! Di Barton, APO

Roseworthy Netball Club

The Roseworthy Campus Netball Club welcomes both experienced netballers and newcomers to the sport. The number of teams will depend on interest, however in the past we have had 2 teams (one being more serious than the other). It’s a great way to meet new people and get fit (we organise a number of different fitness sessions such as circuits, personal trainers and kickboxing classes). Games are Saturday afternoons and commence at the start of May. We are also currently trying to find a coach. Their main requirements would be to attend matches on Saturday and if possible one or two training sessions a week.

As commitment is often a deterring factor, we’re happy if they are just able to commit to Saturday games. A level of netball experience would be great, however last year we hade a student coach and that also worked well, so anyone is welcome to ap- ply for the position. We will be offering payment for the position, however we have not yet had a committee meeting and been able to determine how much this will be. It will also depend on whether or not they are happy to attend and run trainings.

There will be an information session held towards the end of the second O’Week (9-11 March) on campus but information will be distributed soon in regards to that. Until then I’m happy for anyone to direct enquiries to me. My mobile number is 0409 240 561.
