FOREWORD
Welcome to floating further ... .falling further ....
We are pleased to be able to present a second season of Postgraduate Dance this year, following on from our earlier May season in The Loft. This time the refurbished Woodward Theatre is the venue for our works, following straight on from the exciting season of third year choreographic works in New Moves.
It is a pleasure to welcome our collaborators from other disciplines who have made an important contribution to this season. Helena Dingle who is completing her Honours in Performance Studies is premiering her work 'Infinitely Vague and Familiar'. Five Masters students from Communication Design have created video and animation sequences to be integrated into Christina Park's 'Between the Edges' and Hui-Chun peng's 'Flow'. Composer Christine Smale, under:.llllng postgraduate studies in Music has also collaborated with Hui-Chun Peng.
Three of the five works have been created especially for this season of floating further .. .falling further .... whilst two of the works you will see tonight are developments from our May season of floating, falling, grounded. Mengna Shi from China and Christina Park from Korea have delved deeper into their intercultural work of contemporising aspects of dance traditions from their respective countries.
Integral to the creation and staging of the five works are our skilled and tireless technical theatre students, some of whom are 'regulars' for our post-graduate programs. Thank you to a supportive and cohesive team with whom it is always a joy to work, under the experienced direction of technical theatre coordinator Sue Benfer and lecturer George Meijer.
I would also like to thank all our dancers nd film documenters, both graduates and undergraduates, who so generously donate their time an~ skills to work with our post-graduates in between their own S\Udies and busy lives. Thrs nexus between our various Creative Industries communities at alii eve is a cruci I strategy in building<in er iseiplinary and industry networks for
the future.
I j
