Applicant: Queensland Investment Corporation Limited
Description: The proposal is for a modification to the approved Stage 3 expansion of Castle Towers Shopping Centre. The modifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Staging of the construction works into 2 stages;
• Design amendments including the construction of an additional basement level loading area, provision for a future connection to the rail concourse of the Sydney Metro Northwest Rail Station, changes to vehicle access and loading docks and internal relocation of cinemas and new retail spaces.
The approved proposal includes the closure of Castle Street between Pennant Street and Old Northern Road, and the partial closure of the southern part of Kentwell Avenue. The site bound by Kentwell Avenue, Showground Road, Castle Street and Pennant Street will be used for vehicle access to the centre. The approved road closures and vehicle access arrangements remain.
The Modification Application will be reported to the NSW Government’s Sydney Central City Planning Panel as the determining authority.
