Re-accreditation of Certificate II in Workplace Practices

Purpose

To tell schools about the re-accreditation of Certificate II in Workplace Practices after updates and changes to the course structure.

Background

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has re-accredited the following course:

 30981QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices

The accreditation period of this course is from 29 November 2011 to 28 November 2016.

This course replaces 30627QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices, whose accreditation period was to 28 November 2011.

In 2012, school RTOs must deliver the new course to new students.

Students currently undertaking 30627QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices may complete this course. There must be no new enrolments in 30627QLD in 2012.

Information

The overall structure of the course has been revised.

The course now comprises a total of seven core units of competency (see Table 1), whereas the superseded course comprised of ten core units of competency. The new structure includes three units of competency that have been imported from BSB20107 Certificate II in Business and four existing enterprise units of competency that have been revised.

The course owners (listed on page 2) plan to run professional development with schools in 2012.

What you need to do

To offer these courses, school RTOs need to register with the QSA to deliver the course, unless the school RTO is given an automatic registration.

Schools currently registered for 30627QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices

 No action is required — your school will automatically be registered for 30981QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices by the start of the 2012 school year.

 Students currently undertaking 30627QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices may complete this course. The course is registered to 31 December 2012 to allow for teach out.

Schools NOT currently registered for 30627QLD Certificate II in Workplace Practices who wish to seek registration for delivery of the new course in 2012

 Complete and send an RTO2 application by Friday 10 February 2012 to amend your school’s scope of registration. This form is available from the QSA

website: http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/12264.html.

School RTOs must ensure at the time of application that they would be able to provide any necessary evidence to meet AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards.
