16 July 2018 Prep – Year 10 Number: 040/18
Release of 2018 NAPLAN preliminary data
Purpose
To provide both paper-based and online schools with information about the release of the 2018 NAPLAN preliminary reports.
Background
Queensland is currently in the process of transitioning from paper to the online delivery of the NAPLAN tests. This year the preliminary reports for paper-based and online schools will be released on 16 July 2018.
While the process for accessing these reports remains the same for paper-based schools, online schools will need to access their reports from the Online National Assessment Platform
(Assessment Platform). Instructions for both paper-based and online schools are provided.
These reports contain preliminary (raw score) data for each student. Scale scores are not yet available from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
Information
The NAPLAN preliminary data includes reports for test domains:
• Grammar and Punctuation, Reading, Numeracy, Spelling and Writing (paper-based schools)
• Grammar and Punctuation, Reading, Numeracy and Spelling (online schools).
The data enables teachers to:
• compare the overall performance of the class
• check student participation status, i.e. absent, withdrawn, exempt.
ACARA will publish the NAPLAN National Summary Report in August. During this time, schools (paper-based and online) should begin receiving the individual student reports (ISR) for
distribution to parents/carers.
