The College has a Faculty of Theology, established in 1877, largely as a result of the efforts of the Right Reverend James Moorhouse, second Bishop of Melboume. The College Library (Leeper Library) provides a useful collection of works in the most important areas of undergraduate study. However, no non-resident member may represent the college in intercollegiate competitions of any kind.

The only additional recurring charge for all residents is for membership of the College Clubs. Every applicant for membership of the College, whether as a resident or a non-resident student, must complete an application form, obtainable from the College Office. John's College, Cambridge, was appointed Master of the College—which was formally opened by His Excellency the Governor on 18 March 1881.

Ormond had made "the splendid and generous offer to bear all the expenses of the building of the college". From the beginning the policy was adopted of making no other conditions than those of good character and adequate scholarship upon membership of the College. The fee for non-resident students is $70 per year, together with the registration fee of $7.00 upon first registration as a member of the College.

The above fees cover the College costs for residence during the period of the three College terms (see below.

QUEEN'S COLLEGE

Such students will not normally be admitted except for the whole year, and for all their subjects where there are College tutorials. The fee for non-resident students is $60 per year, together with the registration fee of $7 upon first registration as a member of the College. Some of these are awarded on the basis of the scholarship exam held in November each year.

It is intended for those who have left school and propose to start a university course in the following March. All enrolled resident or non-resident students of the College are automatically considered candidates, together with any students outside the College who wish to have their University results considered for a scholarship or exhibition. Smart Scholarship ($500 p.a.) and the Howard Hitchcock Scholarship ($300 p.a.) for Geelong College students, are available from time to time.

Scholarships and Exhibitions are awarded for one year only, but a student may be re-elected each year during his studies at the University for a scholarship of equal or different value. Rooms are assigned to resident students in order of age and must be approved by the Master in each case. This counts as one room and is subject to the fee scale shown below.

The above charges cover all tuition costs for accommodation, tuition, board, etc., with the exception of electricity for heating purposes, which will be charged according to the amount used. A vacation fee of $3.00 per day will be charged for the period of stay outside the period covered by the College Terms. When, as in the clinical years of the medical course, the period of hospital stay entails absence during the college terms, an allowance of $10.00 per week is given for this period.

Term notice is required of a student's intention to leave the CoUege during the year, unless there are special circumstances. The college has a certain amount available to award scholarships to students who could not enter or remain in residence without financial assistance. For further information about residence and tuition or about scholarships and exhibitions, application should be made to the Master, Queen's College, Parkville, Victoria 3052.

NEWMAN COLLEGE

Female students, like male non-resident students, are admitted to all CoUege classes. Students of this College enjoy the benefit of residence, instruction in the doctrine and discipline of the Catholic Church, and tuition fees in addition to university lectures. No student can be admitted to the CoUege unless they have qualified for university admission.

No student can remain a member of the CoUege unless he attends the legal colleges and submits to the discipline of the College and University. Tuition fees are paid in three equal installments, but the residence rate assumes that a student will stay in the residence for the entire year. Third – Monday, September 2 through Saturday, November 23 (or prior closure of the student's university work and annual exam).

Students whose college work begins before March 11 may be allowed to enter the CoUege on the evening of February 1 or later. For further information about residence and tuition, or about scholarships, bursaries and exhibitions, application should be made to the Principal, Newman College, Parkville, Victoria 3052.

For authorized stay at other times during the academic year, a fee of $2.75 per day is payable. INTERNATIONAL HOUSE

House tuition: Tutorial assistance is provided by the House in the basic subjects of most Faculties with the special aim of assisting students in their University work. Advice to students about their courses: Every student of the House is required to complete an enrollment or re-enrolment form, detailing the course of study proposed for the coming year. The House reserves the right to increase fees if it appears necessary to cover increased costs.

Associate members are those students who come to the House for meals, attend tutorial classes and participate in other House activities. Preference is given to students who have been or intend to become resident members of the Chamber. After the first year, the choice of rooms is given in order of seniority, subject of course to the decision of the Warden in AU cases.

Students in later years of university studies can also apply for scholarships and exhibitions, which are awarded based on the student's performance in university exams. In special circumstances, scholarships may be awarded to new students entering the university based on matriculation results. The primary value of major scholarships is $100, but this primary value may be supplemented by additional financial assistance if the scholarship recipient is unable to cover the cost of living in the Home.

The value of the exhibition is credited to the account specified by the Chamber at the start of the academic year. Students who apply for a high school scholarship and expect to be affiliated with the university's Teachers' Secondary Center are told that their schedule is usually too full to take advantage of the homework classes. These are for both those coming from school to college in 1969 and those who have completed their freshman or senior year of college.

The value of the scholarship aid will be determined based on the needs of each individual and the amount available in the Scholarship Fund. Bill Payment: Bills are issued to resident and associate members at the beginning of each semester and to non-resident students at the beginning of the academic year. Regulations: Attention is directed to houses and especially to the following:. a ) Members of the Home will not be permitted to remain in the Home unless the Warden is satisfied with their diligence, progress and conduct and with their efforts to promote the aims and ideals of the Home. Application and application forms and further information may be obtained by applying to the Warden, Intemational House, 241 Royal Parade, Parkville, Victoria, 3052.
