Stage 1 senior syllabuses: Draft 3 released for consultation
Purpose
To notify schools that the third drafts of the Stage 1 senior syllabuses are available for reviewing and feedback through completion of an online survey.
Background
A new senior assessment and tertiary entrance system will be introduced for students entering Year 11 in 2019.
To support the introduction of the new system, the QCAA is redeveloping senior syllabuses in three stages.
Expert writing teams, comprised of practising teachers and academics with subject discipline expertise, have received feedback on Stage 1 Drafts 1 and 2 of the syllabuses.
Stage 1 Draft 3 syllabuses are now available online at www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/senior/new-snr- assessment-te/redev-snr-syll/stage1. The QCAA invites feedback on the syllabuses via the online survey, which is available from Monday 31 October to Thursday 17 November 2016.
Senior subject syllabus redevelopment
Stage 1 Draft 3 senior syllabuses include:
• course overview
• teaching and learning
• foundational Units 1 and 2
• Units 3 and 4, including three school-based assessment instruments with instrument-specific marking guides (ISMGs) and information about external assessment
• curriculum glossary
• references.

What you need to do

• Select the relevant learning area and syllabus.
• Review the survey questions provided in PDF format.
• Click on the syllabus survey link to begin the survey. You will be able to view the syllabus and complete the survey in separate windows. The survey should take approximately 30 minutes.
• Please make your teachers, students and school community aware of the survey and encourage their participation.
