The Club’s crest & bulletin name reflect ‘Odin’ (Anglo-Saxon ‘Woden’), the ancient Nordic God of Wisdom.
Odin had two ravens called Hugin and Munin (Thought and Memory) who flew forth every day and returned at night to tell him what they had seen, so contributing to his wisdom.

Last Week:
A great meal was share together at the Asian Café in Civic before heading off to the Australian Marine Safety Authority.
We had the pleasure of a guide tour and talk of the
communication centre. AMSA’s Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Australia) operates 24/7 and monitors a region of 52.8 million square kilometres (approximately 10
per of the earth’s surface).
AMSA manages a network of 492 aids to navigation at 381 sites around the
Australian coastline to assist mariners make safe and efficient passages.
The network is made up of
traditional lighthouses, beacons, buoys, radar transponders, differential global positioning
systems (DGPS), Automatic Identification System (AIS) stations, and meteorological and
oceanographic sensors.
AMASA manages the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergencies (National Plan). The authority works with state and Northern Territory government's, the shipping, oil, ports, salvage, exploration and chemical industries. And emergency services to maximise Australia’s response to maritime environmental emergencies.
One of AMSA’s key responsibilities is ensuring the
establishment and operation of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) is consistent with Australia’s obligations under the International Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea 74/78
(SOLAS) and the Navigation Act 2012.
