Boards of the College and the University approved a formal agreement April 11 to seek merger. It called for urgent action on the part of the University to correct these deficiencies. Student Music Week was once again an extremely successful enterprise in the cultural life of the University and the community in general.

FUND ACCOUNTING

In most cases, it is not permissible for these grants or donations to be used for any university purposes other than the specified project. For reporting purposes there are four main groups of Funds: - (a) the General Recurring Grant Fund, which is available for. to fund the University's normal operating costs for teaching, research and related support activities;.

The income and expenses of the funds under (a), (b) and (c) above are summarized in the combined statement. A separate statement of income and expenses is prepared for each of the auxiliary activities listed in note 13. GENERAL ACCUMULATED FUND CONTENT Net total of balances in individual funds. STUDENT LOAN FUNDS

University aid to students CTEC Special Higher Students to Students Financial Assistance Education Loan Fund and Seed Aid Special for Students Adain. Sub-Couittee Reserve Funds The Sub-Couittee, 2.Salaries and Related Expenses, made a grant of $150,000 to the University Student Loan Fund. All salaries and related expenses associated with the administration of these funds were assumed by the University's General Fund.

These investments are part of the university's Trust Balances Investment Pool, which is held as a mix of short, medium and long term fixed income securities. The University of Melbourne Council has approved the transfer of higher education balance. Administration Fees Loan Fund to General Funds in 1989, as the Loan Fund will no longer be needed after the abolition of Higher Education Administration Fees as Iron on January 1, 1989.

These declarations must be read in conjunction with note 13 in 'Notes to the university's published accounts'.
