TOBACCO INDUSTRY STABILISATION REGULATIONS 1988

Department of Primary Industries Brisbane, 2nd June, 1988 HIS Excellency the Governor, acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the provisions of the Tobacco Industry Stabilisation Act 1965-1972, has been pleased to make the following regulations.

1. Short title. These regulations may be cited as the Tobacco Industry Stabilisation Regulations 1988.

2. Commencement of regulations. These regulations shall come into force on the first day of July 1988.

3. Repeal. The regulations made under the Tobacco Industry Stabilisation Act of 1965 being regulations numbered 1 and 2 respectively first published in the Queensland Government Gazette on 14th December, 1968, at page 1406, and in force (as amended) under the Tobacco Industry Stabilisation Act 1965-1972 are repealed.

4. Members to continue to hold office. The persons appointed as the members and the Chairman of the Tobacco Quota Appeals Tribunal immediately prior to these regulations coming into force shall continue in office for the balance of their terms of appointment to and including 31st December, 1989.

5. Tobacco Quota Committee-members' term of office. The persons appointed as members of the Tobacco Quota Committee, other than the Chairman, for the term commencing on 1st July, 1988 and for any subsequent term shall hold office for a period of three years from the commencement of such term.

6. Tobacco Quota Appeals Tribunal-members' term of office. The persons appointed as Chairman and members of the Tobacco Quota Appeals Tribunal for the term commencing on 1st January, 1990 and·

for any subsequent term, shall hold office for a period of three years from the commencement of such term: Provided that a member of the Appeals Tribunal who would attain the age of seventy years prior to the conclusion of the three-year term shall be appointed only to and including his seventieth birthday.
