1 Job Title: ASSISTANT/DEPUTY MANAGER- TAX & VAT

Position Purpose

A dedicated and sincere employee for the operation of e-TDS software and VAT online system who will prepare and submit monthly TDS return as well as VAT return and any other tax and VAT related tasks as per the requirement of Tax and VAT authority.

Organizational Relationships

Position Type: Regular/Contractual

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Accounts and Finance

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Must return to duty whenever needed.

Functional Relationships:

Internal Contacts: Employees of BRAC University External Contacts: External stakeholders

1. Key Accountabilities

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

1.1.1 Deliver a full range of Tax & VAT services in compliance with laws and regulations within the time frame.

1.1.2 Monitor monthly TDS and VDS deduction from the applicable heads of accounts and deposit to the Govt. treasury.

1.1.3 Ensure proper documentation, control and maintain necessary records with respect to income tax-related issues, TDS, VDS, VAT, AIT & other hearing- related documents.

1.1.4 Maintain statements in compliance with the regulatory requirements of the related bodies - Auditors (internal & external), NBR (Tax purpose) and VAT authorities.

1.1.5 Preparation, maintain VAT returns, Monthly TDS returns, Isuue VAT forms like VAT-6.3, VAT-6.6 & others relevant activites as required.

1.1.6 Ensure proper compliance as per Income Tax Act 2023 and VAT Act 2012 1.2 General Duties & Responsibilities

1.2.1 Administrative Duties relating to all matters that the membership of a University entails, including cross institutional wide activities.

1.2.2 General Responsibility to undertake all other duties as directed by the supervisor.

1.3 Qualifications

Excellent academic credentials; MBA/Master’s in Finance/Accounting, Partly qualified in CA/CMA/ACCA. Must have the sound knowledge regarding the Tax and VAT (Advance certification in VAT & Tax will be added as advantage).

2 1.4 Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes

1.4.1 Experience 3 to 5 years in a relevant field

1.4.2 Strong interpersonal skills and are adept at building relationships with different stakeholders

1.4.3 Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Bangla and English 1.4.4 Proficiency in MS Office and the use of Internet, e-TDS software, VAT Software 1.4.5 Excellent organizational skills

1.4.6 Ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues is essential

1.4.7 Experience of using initiative and creativity to resolve problems, identifying suitable solutions and opportunities for improvement

1.4.8 Methodical approach to work and high level of attention to detail

1.4.9 Flexible approach to work and positive response to changing requirements 1.4.10 Understanding of the importance of confidentiality

1.4.11 Ability to work collaboratively across departments and service areas

1.5 Other Duties

It is acknowledged and agreed that the changing needs of the University may require a role/job/position to change from time to time but such alteration shall not be deemed to be a variation of the Employment Contract/Terms and Conditions of Employment or a breach of the same provided that the substantial nature of the employment remains consistent with the parties’ intentions at the time of the offer of the job and acceptance of the offer.
