An attempt was thus made to submit an intern report entitled "Study on Management, Bio-Security and Marketing System of Broiler Farms at Mirsharai Upazilla" now presented as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University. To describe the management and broiler farming practices of broiler farming as an agricultural enterprise. ii) To estimate and assess the average farm profitability and available marketing channels for live broilers. iii). Farooq et al., 2002 stated that the disease at any stage of production affects farm productivity.
Kabir et al., 2010 conducted a study on Isa brown strain at Mymensingh and reported the effect of management on laying egg production. The solution to the problem is temperature control with a thermometer and the use of vitamin C during the hot season. During this period I actively worked and collected data on the possibilities and problems of broiler farming in MirsharaiUpazilla.
01.02.2021 to 18.05.2021 completion of one batch of broiler marketing due to lack of time and funds during the internship period in Mirsharai Upazilla. During my internship I worked on broiler farms of various sizes. Average flock sizes have been established and are listed below: The owner mainly follows the literature of Quality Pro vita feed, CP, Nourish and some other feed management companies.
Access to the farm is one of the most important elements of maintaining farm biosecurity, as it is the route of human transmission of diseases to the farm.
Foot bath
Spray room
Vehicles
For visitors
Entry of the farm shed
Use of separate sandals and dress
Use of mask
Location of the farm
Hand washing

Profitability of Broiler Farming practices
- Land – Own

- Income
- Marketing System
- Poultry farm owner: The marketing channels of poultry start from collection of day old chicks by commercial farm owner from hatchery. Most of the farm owners sell their poultry
- Wholesaler cum retailer: They are professional poultry traders who have fixed establishment in the city. They purchase poultry from poultry farm in large number and sell
- Hawker: The hawkers are part time traders. They purchase poultry from retailer and sell to 18the consumer in city
- Super store traders: They purchase the poultry from farm owner. Then they sell their products to consumers
- Marketing functions
Marketing channels are alternative routes for the flow of products from producers to consumers (kohls & Ukl, 1980). They have direct contact with hotel and restaurant owners and fast food providers. In the case of poultry and poultry meat products, the market participants involved are: 4.5.1 Poultry Hatchery: Artificial incubation is used in the poultry hatchery for production.
They sell their day-old chicks to their own store or ask the chicken farm owner to pick up their DOC from the farm. Poultry Farm Owner: Poultry marketing channels begin with the commercial farm owner's collection of day-old chicks from the hatchery. Most farm owners sell their poultry chickens to commercial farm owners from the hatchery.
Most of the farm owners sell their poultry to the wholesaler with retailers and a small portion to the local consumer. Wholesaler cum retailer: They are professional poultry traders who have fixed establishment in the city. They buy poultry in large numbers from poultry farm and sell establishment in the city.
They buy poultry in large numbers from poultry farms and sell it to retailers, hotel and restaurant owners and fast food traders. They buy poultry from wholesalers and retailers and sell it in their stores to the consumers, wholesalers in hotels and restaurants and retailers and sell in their stores to the consumers, hotel and restaurant owners and fast food merchants. Hotel and restaurant owners: This is a place where poultry meat is cooked with other products for sale.
Hotel owners/managers purchase poultry (live or processed) from retailers and wholesalers and retailers for hotel cooking. After purchasing poultry or poultry meat from poultry traders (retailer and wholesaler and retailer), fast food poultry or poultry meat from poultry traders (retailer and wholesaler and retailer), the fast food trader brings them to processing plant.

Then they sell their products to consumers. products for consumers.. ii) Financing: Small parts of the farm owner in the study area are self-financed. In this study poultry marketers gathered information from other marketers by observing the current marketing trend, from leaflets & us.
CHAPTER–V
- Shortage of feed & proper nutrition
- Lack of electricity
- Low quality feed
- Low quality chick
- High mortality rate of chicks
- Lack of knowledge
- Lack of well established diagnostic lab
- Lack of post mortem facilities
- Lack of proper vaccination
- Lack of bio-security knowledge
- Absence of proper disease control model
- Acute shortage of veterinary support staff
- Influence of Drugs Company
- Influence by feed supplying company: Many feed companies communicate with farm owner and influence them for using their low quality feed. It also acts as a barrier
The farm owners are not well educated and lack knowledge about farm management, as a result the chickens do not grow rapidly. There is no possibility to diagnose the disease at this level due to the lack of a well-established diagnostic laboratory in the area. There is a lack of postmortem objects of dead birds for the diagnosis of the disease.
As a result, they may not know the exact cause of the disease and not take appropriate preventive measures. The farm owner does not vaccinate the birds on time due to lack of proper knowledge about vaccination. There is no disease control model on this farm in which the owner can prevent diseases occurring on the farm.
There is a lack of veterinarians and other personnel for the business owner's suggestion for the development of a broiler chicken business. Representatives of pharmaceutical companies communicate with the farm owner and influence them for using their low-quality drugs. As a result, the birds do not receive enough of the active ingredients used in the medicines and die unexpectedly from disease.
Feed supplier influence: Many feed companies communicate with the farm owner and influence them to use their low quality feed. It also acts as a barrier farm owner and influences them to use their low quality feed.
