ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to investigate productive and reproductive performance of deshi duck under village condition in Bangladesh and mainly carried out within 3 breeds namely deshi white, deshi black and cross breed. Data on productive and reproductive performance of indigenous duck were collected from 15 different families from different villages in Rangpur. The Data was collected by direct interviewing method using a questionnaire. Highest number of egg production was found 125 per duck per year and peak production found in 18 to 24th month of age. This study also reveals the average age of sexual maturity was 136.66 days. Average hatchability was 62.2% and maximum hatchability was obtained form ducks aging from18 to 21 month. The average egg weight was found 55.47±2.74 grams and average laying weight was 1.396±0.18kg. This study also demonstrates that hatchability rate from broody hen is higher than the broody ducks.
