INTRODUCTION

Introduction

  • Broad objective
  • Specific objectives

Compliance is either a state of being in accordance with established guidelines, specifications or legislation, or the process of becoming so. Compliance in a regulatory context is a common business concern, perhaps due to the ever-increasing number of regulations and the fairly widespread lack of understanding about what is required for companies to comply with new legislation. There is no problem with our product except that our products achieve world-class capabilities.

As a result, customers are losing our appeal. As accidents are common in our industry, the factory owner is not aware of the implementation of compliance in his factory. This report is mainly prepared to fulfill the thesis report which is an essential part of M.Sc in Textile Engineering at Daffodil International University, Dhaka. The broader objective of the study is to determine how compliance practices help to improve the working environment at Cassiopeia Garments Ltd and how they contribute to the job satisfaction of employees at Cassiopeia Garments Ltd.

LITERATURE REVIEW

History of Compliance

One of the first was in 1992, when a public scandal followed a report in the Washington Post about the production of Levi Jeans by Chinese prisoners on the island of Saipan. Levi Strauss responded immediately by drawing up a code of labor standards (compliance) for all of its overseas suppliers. Wal-Mart, a major US company, was one of the first retailers to establish a comprehensive code in 1993. Foreign buyers have always questioned the quality of goods exported from Bangladesh due to the lack of experience and awareness of trade-related garment manufacturers. .

To export ready-made garments, it is not only the quality parameters that are important for the acceptance of the product according to the end-use purpose, but also the working environment in which the garments will be produced is equally important so that the concept of sweat shop. fully taken care of and the code of conduct should be extended towards achieving the objectives of social compliance issues. The main objective of the system is to protect human rights in the ready-made garment industries.

Performance

Those in Class 3, rapid and intense combustion, cannot be legally sold in the United States or imported into the United States from abroad. Children's nightwear is covered by and must meet the requirements of 16 CFR Part 1615/1616, which measures the flammability of fabrics based on burning time. These samples were drawn from the bulk production by the experienced vendors of garment manufacturing units in Bangladesh and submitted for final testing. Table 2 indicates that all items fall under the Normal Flammability category with Class I standard.

The test results confirm that the flammability of clothes produced in Bangladesh is satisfactory according to international experts.

The controversy of the system can be identified by the regulation that obliges the workers to report the factory owners of the application to the directorate of labor. Official sources estimate that nearly 90 percent of the 3.2 million child laborers are involved in unacceptable (hazardous) forms of work in the informal economy—representing nearly 3.1 percent of the overall child population in this age group. The garment sector was once a significant employer of child labor in Bangladesh; but since the introduction of the Harkin bill in the U.S.

The study was funded by the Office of Child Labor Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT), part of the United States. This study aims to inform current and future child labor/forced child labor technical assistance efforts by USDOL/OCFT. Bangladesh has already passed the milestones of ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Convention 182 on the Prohibition of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, and is moving towards the ratification of ILO-IPEC Convention 138 on the back of the adoption of the National Child Labour. Elimination policy from 2010.

Although not specifically concerned with child labor issues, the Birth and Death Registration Act of 2004 addressed one of the fundamental human rights specified in the Convention on the Rights of the Child—that all children have the right to a name, identity and nationality. The TBP is one of the tools established by ILO-IPEC to help countries meet their obligations under ILO Convention 182 to take immediate and effective time-bound measures to urgently prohibit and eliminate the worst forms of child labor . The Urban Informal Economy (UIE) project53 is one of the projects supported by ILO-IPEC as part of the TBP in the Dhaka and other metropolitan areas of Bangladesh.

Cases of Forced Labor in the Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Cases of Forced Labor in the Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Forced Labor SOMO Fact Sheet 5 In addition, governments at the buying end of the supply chain have developed focused initiatives to curb the importation of products made with child labor. For example, the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) of the US Department of Labor has created a toolkit for responsible business to reduce child and forced labor. The factory must follow the legal requirement for overtime compensation, which is double the basic salary.

Despite the government's promulgation of laws, the majority of garment workers remain deprived of their legal rights. Wages are in accordance with the country's laws regarding basic wage and hour laws. Fire extinguishers were found blocked in some areas of the factory and were not easily accessible.
