CHANGE OF COMMAND
BA-1335 Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, Commandant MIST relinquished his command on 17 August 09. He served as Commandant of MIST from 03 Feb 06 to 27 July 2009. He is now posted to Armed Forces Division as Principal Staff Officer. Special darbar and prithibhoj was arranged on the day. A farewell dinner was also arranged in his honour.
The 31st Meeting of the Academic Council of MIST was held on 30 July 2009. Acting Commandant MIST, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc chaired the meeting.
Representatives/members from University of Dhaka, BUET, Ministry of Education, Defence and Finance, Armed Forces Division, Army, Navy and Air Headquarters and concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. Deliberate discussions on various important academic related issues like withdrawal of students, updating the syllabus of Aeronautical Engineering Program, increasing honorarium of part time teachers and lab technician, admission of foreign students, amendment of academic calendar 2008-2009, promotion of class-I civil officers, admission test policy etc took place and appropriate decisions were taken accordingly.

The 15th Meeting of the Governing Body of MIST was held on 02 July 2009. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, presided over the meeting. Engineer-in-Chief, Bangladesh Army, Representatives from University of Dhaka, BUET, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Directors of Army, Navy and Air Training and the concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. A number of important agenda like proposed revenue budget for the financial year 2010-2011, promotion of class-I civil officers, admission test policy, designation change of class-II civil officers, introduction of ‘Osmany Memorial Medal’ etc were discussed in the meeting and appropriate decisions were taken.
31st ACADEMIC COUNCIL MEETING
The 32nd Meeting of the Academic Council of MIST was held on 19 November 2009. Acting Commandant, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc, chaired the meeting.
Representatives from University of Dhaka, BUET, Ministry of Education, Defence and Finance, Armed Forces Division, Army, Navy and Air Headquarters and concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. VISIT OF NDU (CHINA) DELEGATION
A 33 (thirty three)-member military delegation of the NDU China led by Lieutenant General Wang Chaotian, vice president of PLA NDU visited MIST on 25 October 2009.
The delegation was received by acting commandant MIST, Brigadier General Akhteruzzaman Siddique. The visiting guests were briefed about MIST. Delegation highly appreciated the achievements of the mist and assured co- operation in mutually benefited fields of interest. The faculty members and other officials of MIST attended the discussion. The delegation also visited classrooms, laboratories and other facilities of MIST.
VISIT OF U.S.A EMBASSY DELEGATION
Mr. Thomas Fountain, Distinguished Member of the Delegation of USA Embassy in Bangladesh visited MIST on 18 August 2009. The delegation was received by acting commandant of MIST Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc. The visiting guests were briefed about MIST. The delegation assured cooperation in the field of Aeronautical Engineering including providing faculty members.
After the discussion they visited the campus and different facilities of MIST.
A 50-member team of 54th batch of BCS Officers visited MIST on 08 October 09. The team was briefed about different activities and facilities of MIST. After a proper briefing session, they visited MIST premises including classrooms, library and laboratories.

TRAINING VISITS
MIST faculty members and students of ME-7, Level -1 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) visited Bangladesh Insulator and Sanitary Factory Limited (BISFL) at Mirpur on 17 October 2009.
MIST faculty members and students of ME-6, Level -2 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) visited Shahjalal paper mill Limited at Narayongonj on 24 October 2009 as a part of their training visit. The visit has enhanced the knowledge of the students on how paper mills work.

A seminar on ‘NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN BANGLADESH: PROBLEM AND PROSPECTS’ was held at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on 14 October 2009. Honorable state minister, Ministry of Science, Information and Communication Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman graced the occasion as chief guest. Honorable state minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Brig General (retd) Enamul Huq was also present as special guest. Dr. Rezwan khan, Vice Chancellor United International University (UIU), Dhaka, and Maj A.K.M Nazrul Islam, EME, instructor class-B, MIST presented the keynote papers in the seminar. Acting Commandant Brig General Habibur Rahman Kamal ,psc, senior military and civil officials and students of MIST were present in the seminar.
Problems and prospects of the economic implications, safety hazards, nuclear waste management etc were discussed in the seminar. Speakers emphasized on the IPP based power plant for Bangladesh and suggested to invite nuclear fuel producing country to establish nuclear power plant on ‘operate and own principle’.
A Seminar on “CURRENT EARTHQUAKE RELATED ACTIVITIES IN BANGLADESH” held in MIST on 22 October 2009. Dr. Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Hon’able Minister, Ministry of Food and Disaster Management graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, BRAC University and Professor Dr. A. M. M. Safiullah, VC, BUET were also present as Special Guests. Dr. Mehedi Ahmed Ansary, Professor, CE Department BUET & Vice President Bangladesh Earthquake Society, and Colonel Md Gazi Ferooz Rahman, Senior Instructor & Head CE Department, MIST presented the keynote papers in the seminar. TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT-2009
Inter-Department Table Tennis Tournament 2009 was held at from 11 Oct to 15 Oct 2009 Osmani Hall MIST. It was organized by Department of Sc & Hum. A Total of 05 teams participated in the tournament. Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department & Civil Engineering (CE) Department became the champion & runner-up respectively. A/Comdt MIST, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc distributed prizes amongst the winners as Chief Guest.
SHORT TRAINING COURSE ON ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC JOURNAL
A short training course on access to electronic journal was held in the central library MIST on 08 July 2009. Director R&D Captain M Z Alamgir (L),psc, BN inaugurated the course. All officers of R & D wing, representatives from all teaching department and concerned persons were took part in the course.

VISIT OF MIST FACULTY TO UNIVERSITES ABROAD
A/Comdt MIST, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc led a 02 member delegation to Myanmar and Thailand from 26 October - 01 November 09. They visited Western Yangoon Technology University, Defense Services Technological Academy (DSTA), and Myanmar Computer Company Training Institute. During the visit the delegation discussed about the point of common interest in the field of education. This will enhance the friendship between the MIST and the institutes visited.

ADMISSION TEST-2009
Admission Test-2009 was held on 14 November 2009 for 05(five) Engineering programs 1.Civil Engineering (CE) 2.Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) 3.Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE) 4.Mechanical Engineering (ME) 5.Aeronautical Engineering (AE). Total 2207 candidates took part in the admission test .Out of those, 1453 candidates were qualified.
