Education Minister Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP graced the occassion as the chief guest. Commandant NDC Lieutenant General Mollah Fazle Akbar ndc, psc, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Mohammad Farash Uddin, Vice Chancellor BUP Major General Sheikh Mamun Khaled, SUP, psc and Additional Secretary, ICT division Kamal Uddin Ahmed were also present in the program.

1ST NATIONAL AERO-DESIGN COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION
Aeronautical Engineering (AE) Department of MIST arranged “1st National Aero-Design Competition and Exhibition” at MIST from 14 to 15 Oct 2014 for the first time in Bangladesh with the participation of students of different universities and enthusiastic personnel. This program was inaugurated by Begum Ismat Ara Sadique, State Minister, Ministry of Public Administration. Total 26 teams have participated in the main competition under two categories (fixed wing aircraft and rotary wing aircraft). MIST Team „Long Rangers‟ achieved 1st position in fixed wing category.

A seminar on “Capacity Building - IT Engineers Examination” was held on 28 Sep 2014 by CSE Dept. Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc, Dean, MIST graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr Sk Amzad Hossain, Project Director, ITEE and Mr. Hideo HOYA, Chief Adviser Capacity Building on ITEE, Management Project of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delivered the speech on the subject as keynote speakers. GP Capt Md Afzal Hossain, psc, Head, Dept of CSE was the moderator of the seminar. Engr Enamul Kabir, Director Training of Bangladesh Computer Council was present in the seminar.
SEMINAR ON "ACCIDENT IN BANGLADESH INLAND WATERWAYS: CAUSES AND REMEDIES"
NAME Dept organized a seminar on “Accident in Bangladesh Inland Waterways: Causes and Remedies” on 24 Sep 2014. The seminar was arranged to discuss and analyze the data related to passenger vessel accidents in Bangladesh and to figure out possible ways to minimize it. Assistant Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Riazuddin Ahmed, (E), BSP, ndu, afwc, psc, graced the occassion as the chief guest. Several professors from BUET and other high ranking civil and military officials were present in the occasion.

ACADEMIC MANUSCRIPT WRITING
A seminar on “Effective Academic and Review Manuscript Writing Techniques” was conducted by EECE Dept on 13 Aug 2014. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr M A Hannan, Professor of Intelligent Systems, Dept of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, University Kebangsaan, Malaysia (UKM).
EATL PROTHOM-ALO APPS CONTEST-
CSE Dept of MIST organized a seminar titled “EATL PROTHOM-ALO APPS CONTEST-2015” on 22 Oct 2014. Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc, Dean, MIST graced the occasion as the chief guest. Gp Capt Md Afzal Hossain, psc, Head, Dept of CSE was the moderator of the seminar.
VISIT OF BCS OFFICERS
A sixty member team of 64th batch of BCS Officers visited MIST on 20 Aug 2014. The team was briefed about different activities and facilities of MIST. The team visited MIST campus including library, classrooms, and laboratories.
SHORT COURSE ON MICRO-CONTROLLER AND ROBOTICS
The inauguration ceremony of short course on “Micro-Controller and Robotics” was held on 7 Dec 2014. The course was conducted by EECE Dept of MIST from 7 Dec 2014 to 4 Jan 2015.

CE Dept of MIST and Institute of Water Modeling (IWM) jointly organized a workshop on „Details Studies on Jahizzer Char for its Development‟ held on 12 Nov 2014 at MIST.

INTER-DEPARTMENT DEBATE COMPETITION-2014
Inter-Dept Debate Competition-2014 was organized by Sc & Hum Dept from 10-14 Aug 2014. The final topic was “Globalization is the only Way of Development for a 3rd World Country like Bangladesh”. Six teams participated in this competition. AE Dept became the Champion while EECE Dept became Runner-up. Lt Zia Noor Nobi (AE-2) was selected as the best speaker.
Commandant MIST disbursed the prizes amongst the winners as the Chief Guest.

MIST PROGRAMMING TEAMS IN ACM INTERNATIONAL COLLEGIATE PROGRAMMING CONTEST (ICPC) DHAKA REGIONAL-2014
ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Dhaka Regional-2014 was held at BUBT, Dhaka on 6 Dec 2014. Different universities of Bangladesh, India and China participated in the contest. MIST programming contest team achieved 12th position amongst 135 teams.
MIST CAREER/JOBS FAIR-2015
Inauguration ceremony of Career/Jobs Fair-2015 was held on 23 Dec 2014. Senior Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
CEO of bdjobs.com, A K M Fahim Mashroor was also present. MIST students got an opportunity to incorporate themselves with the job market.
A four week “Executive GIS Course 2014” from 30 Nov to 27 Dec 2014 was conducted by CE Dept. The aim of the course was to enable students to store, retrieve, manage, display and analyze all types of geographical and spatial data. 6 candidates from BD Army and 19 candidates from Survey of Bangladesh, Titas Gas, CPRD, UCBL Bank, Bangladesh Forest Dept attended the course.

TRAINING PROGRAM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL COUNSELLORS OF BEPZA, 2014-2015
The inauguration ceremony on “Training Program for Environmental Counsellors of BEPZA, 2014- 2015” was held on 28 Dec 2014, organized by CE Dept of MIST. Executive Chairman BEPZA, Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan, ndc, psc, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Total 37 candidates from different EPZ participated in this program. The course was aimed to gather knowledge about theoretical and practical issues of environmental pollution and its control.
