The most beautiful Christmas scene I have ever seen was that of an Igorot oid woman going up a steep hill with a load of heavy ca- motes on her back. Sh^ was going to give it as a Christmas gift to a mis
sion up on the hills.
The most common picture of Christmas are the sight of dirty ur
chins who go window shopping up and down the Session Road. They hold their dirty faces so close to the windows so that their breath moisten the glasses before-them.
The most practical picture were young girl scouts under Miss Siba- yan of the New Baguio Central School who went around the, hospi
tal wards singing carols-to the sick and bedridden. Their voices rung through the cold walls of the Baguio Hospital and their is a possibility that they brought joy to a sick heart. They sang for the indigent children whom Mrs. Gavina Cruz invited for her Christmas parly at the Baguio General Hospital Dis
pensary. She distributed gifts to the children which she solicited from friends.
The Baguio Colleges Women’s Club brought two boxes of Christ
mas packages to to the Baguio Ge
neral Hospital for the indigent pa
tients. They were composed of pac
kages donated by' the Baguio Col
leges faculty members and students.
The Trinidad Agricultural held a Christmas play contest for their students. The winning playlet en
titled “It is Nobler To Give” won a prize. After a brief Christmas pro
gram and the usual exchange of gifts a Christmas dance was held at the TAS social hall. The Training De
partment had an operetta at their school last Friday.
The Christmas party which in
cluded some musicale and dance pieces prepared by the Catholic Wo
men’s League was a very entertain
ing affair. The mothers were enter
tained by their musical children and Ruby Jose, Baguio’s popular petite violinist played her piece into the hearts of her audience. The setting of the affair was very typical with pine branches and cones painted gold and silver.
The Baguio Women’s Club mem
bers with the help of Dr. Gloria Lo
pez celebrated Christmas at the Puericulture Center for the patients and their children. The gifts includ
ed milk and clothing donated by the friends of the Center. Mrs. Milagros Tinio was able to solicit some other voluntary gifts for the indigent mo
thers which was distributed to them last Friday morning.
The Baguio Tech high school and vocational departments held a Christmas Dance last Tuesday night at the Purnham Auditorium. The affair, which turned out happily was attended by studentsand the faculty of the school Outside guests and friends were also invited. >
