ABSTRACT
The paper deals with Gerund used in Kevin Kwan’s novel “Crazy Rich Asians” The objective is to find out the function of Gerund used in the novel. The sources of data were taken from the story of the novel. The data, then, were studied based on the two aspects. From the study, it was found that were 308 gerunds. The finding were 5 gerunds as subject or equal to 1,6%, 146 gerunds as object or equal to 47,4%, 3 gerunds as subjective complement or equal to 0,9%, 43 gerunds as object preposition or equal to 13,9%, 2 gerunds as after possessive adjective or equal to 0,6%, 4 gerunds as after certain verb or equal to 1,3%, and 105 gerunds as appositive or equal to 34,0%. The most dominant of gerund found in the novel wasgerund as object that has 146 sentences of Gerund in the novel or equal to 47,4%.

Kertas karya ini membahas tentang Gerund yang digunakan di dalam novel Kevin Kwan yang berjudul “Crazy Rich Asians”. Tujuan kertas karya ini adalah untuk menemukan fungsi dari Gerund yang digunakan dalam novel dan yang paling dominan digunakan. Dalam hal untuk mendapatkan hasil, data diambil berdasarkan cerita dalam novel. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan 2 aspek. Dari hasil tersebut ditemuka n bahwa sebanyak 308 Gerund dan 7 fungsinya: 5 Gerund sebagai subjek atau setara dengan 1,6%, 146 Gerund sebagai objek atau setara dengan 47,4%, 3 Gerund sebagai pelengkap subjektif atau setara dengan 0,9%, 43 Gerund sebagai objek dari preposisi atau setara dengan 13,9%, 2
Gerund setelah kata sifat posesif atau setara dengan 0,6%, 4 Gerund setelah kata kerja tertentu atau setara dengan 1,2%, 105 Gerund sebagai aposisi atau setara dengan 34,0%. Gerund yang paling dominan di dalam novel tersebut adalah
Gerund sebagai objek yang memiliki 146 kalimat Gerund di dalam novel atau setara dengan 47, 4%.
