ϕψ-CONTINUITY BETWEEN TWO POINTWISE QUASI-UNIFORMITY SPACES

Bayaz Daraby

Abstract. In this paper, by means of operations ( is called here ϕ, ψ ) we shall define ϕψ-continuity between two pointwise quasi-uniform spaces and prove that the category of pointwise quasi-uniform spaces and pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous morphisms is topological.

2000Mathematics Subject Classification: 54A40, 54D10, 54D15, 54D65, 03E72. 1. Introduction

There have been all kinds of studies about the theory of proximity and quasi-uniformity in fuzzy set theory (see [1-3, 5, 6,8-12, etc.]). Moreover the concept of S-quasi-uniformity was also generalized to [0, 1]-fuzzy set theory by Ghanim et al. [6].

In this paper, by means of operationsϕ, ψwe shall defineϕψ-continuity between pointwise quasi-uniform spaces and prove that the category LOCDL-PQUnif of pointwise quasi-uniform spaces and pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous morphisms is topological over SET×LOCDLwith respect to the forgetful functor

2. Preliminaries

For a completely distributive lattice K [14, 15] and a nonempty set X,KX denotes the set of all K-fuzzy sets on X.KX is also a completely distributive lattice when it inherits the structure of lattice K in a natural way, by defining ∨,∧,≤pointwisely. The set of nonunit prime elements [7] in KX is denoted by P(KX). The set of nonzero co-prime elements [7] in KX is denoted by M(KX). A nonzero co-prime element in KX is also called a molecule [16].

Definition 2.1. (The categories CDL and LOCDL). The category CDLis the cat-egory having objects of completely distributive lattices and morphisms of complete lattice homomorphisms, i.e., those mappings which preserve arbitrary joins and ar-bitrary meets. LOCDLis the dual CDLop of CDL.

Definition 2.2. (Rodabaugh [14]). LetC be a subcategory of LOQML. An object in the category SET×Cis an ordered pair (X, K) , where X ∈ |SET|, K ∈ |C|, a morphism is an ordered pair (f, φ) : (X, K) → (Y, L), where f :X → Y in SET, φ:K → L in C. Composition and identity morphisms are defined component-wise in the respective categories.

When C=LOCDL, we obtain the categorySET×LOCDL.

Definition 2.3. (Shi [15]). Let (X, K) ∈ |SET×LOCDL|. A pointwise quasi-uniformity on KX (or on (X, K)) is a nonempty subset U of R(KX) satisfying (U1) u∈ R(KX), v ∈ U,uvu∈ U.

(U2) u, v∈ U ⇒u∨v∈ U.

(U3) u∈ U ⇒ ∃v∈ U such thatv⊙v ≥u.

LetU be a pointwise quasi-uniformity on (X, K). ThenA ⊂ U is called a basis of

U if for eachu∈ U, there existsv∈ Asuch thatu≤v. B ⊂ U is called a sub-basis of U if the set of all finite suprema of elements of B is a basis of U. When U is a poinwise quasi-uniformity on (X, K),(X, K,U) or (KX,U) is called a pointwise quasi-uniform space.

Lemma 2.4. Let R(KX) denote the set of all R-mappings from M(KX) to KX, R(LY) denote the set of all R-mappings from M(LY) to LY and (f, φ) : (X, K) (Y, L) be in SET ×LOCDL. Then for any v ∈ R(LY),(f, φ)v (f, φ) R(KX). In [15], the mapping(f, φ)v(f, φ)fromR(LY) toR(KX) is denoted

by (f, φ)∗ :R(LY)→ R(KX).

As was proved in [15], we can obtain the following two theorems.

Theorem 2.5. Let (f, φ) : (X, K) → (Y, L) be in SET ×LOCDL and V be a pointwise quasi-uniformity on (Y, L). Then (f, φ)∗(V) is a basis for a pointwise

(3)

Theorem 2.6. Let (f, φ) : (X, K) → (Y, L) be in SET×LOCDL and V be a pointwise quasi-uniformity on (Y, L) Then η((f, φ)←(V)) = (f, φ)(η(V)) [15].

Definition 2.7. Let (X, K,U) be a pointwise quasi-uniform space. A mapping ϕ :KX KX is called an operation on KX if for each A LX \ ∅, int(A) Aϕ and ∅ϕ = where Aϕ denotes the value ofϕ in A [4].

3.Main Results

Definition 3.1. Let (X, K,U) and(Y, L,V) be two pointwise quasi-uniform spaces. Letϕ, ψbe two operations onKX, LY respectively(f, φ) : (X, K)(Y, L)inSET× LOCDLis said to be pointwise quasi-uniformlyϕψ-continuous with respect toU and

V if for eachv ∈ V, there exists u∈ U such that for any a, b∈M(KX), bnot≤uϕ(a)(f, φ)(b) not vψ((f, φ)(a)).

Theorem 3.2. Let (X, K,U) and(Y, L,V) are two pointwise quasi-uniform spaces. Letϕ, ψbe two operations onKX, LY respectively. Then for(f, φ) : (X, K)→(Y, L) in SET×LOCDL, the following statements are equivalent :

(1) (f, φ) is pointwise quasi-uniformlyϕψ-continuous.

(2) For each v∈ V, there exists u∈ U such that(f, φ)←vψ(f, φ)uψ.

(3) (f, φ)∗(V)ψ ⊂ Uϕ.

Proof. The proof is straightforward from Definition 3.5. and Lemma 2.4.

Corollary 3.3. Let ϕ be operation on KX, and ψ be operation on LY and HZ. If (f, φ) : (X, K,U) → (Y, L,V) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous and (g, ψ) : (Y, L,V) → (Z, H,W) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous, then (g, ψ)◦(f, φ) : (X, K,P)→(Z, H,R) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous.

In Theorem 3.2, if we suppose thatϕ=ψ=id then we shall have the following results:

(I) Let (X, K,U) and (Y, L,V) are two pointwise quasi-uniform spaces. Then for (f, φ) : (X, K)→(Y, L) inSET×LOCDL, the following statements are equivalent: (1) (f, φ) is pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous.

(2) For each v∈ V, there existsu∈ U such that (f, φ)←v(f, φ)u.

(3) (f, φ)∗(V) ⊂ U.

(II) If both (f, φ) : (X, K,U) → (Y, L,V) and (g, ρ) : (Y, L,V) → (Z, H,W) are pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous, then so is (g, ρ)◦ (f, φ) : (X, K,P) →

(4)

It is clear that the identical mapping id(X,K) : (X, K) → (X, K) is pointwise

quasi-uniformly continuous. Therefore from results (I) and (II) we get the following: Theorem 3.4. Pointwise quasi-uniform spaces and pointwise quasi-uniformly con-tinuous morphisms form a category, called the category of pointwise quasi-uniform spaces, denoted by LOCDL×PQUnif.

We shall prove that the category LOCDL-PQUnif is topological overSET×

LOCDL with respect to the forgetful functor V :LOCDL−PQUnif → SET×

LOCDL, where the forgetful functorV :LOCDL−PQUnif →SET×LOCDL has the following shape:

V(X, K,U) = (X, K), V(f, φ) = (f, φ). A V-structured source from pointwise quasi-uniform space looks like

((X, K),(fi, φi) : (X, K)→V(Xi, Ki,Ui))Ω.

Lemma 3.5. Let ((X, K),(fi, φi) : (X, K) → V(Xi, Ki,Ui))Ω be a V-structured

source in SET×LOCDL from LOCDL-PQUnif. then there exists a pointwise quasi-uniformity U on (X, K) such that each (fi, φi) : (X, K,U) →(Xi, Ki,Ui) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous.

Proof. Put

A ={(fi, φi)∗(Uψi )|i∈Ω}={(fi, φi)←◦uψi ◦(fi, φi)→|ui∈ Ui, i∈Ω}. Then it is easy to show thatA is a subbases for a pointwise quasi-uniformityUϕ on (X, K) and each (fi, φi) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous. Lemma 3.6. ((X, K,U), (fi, φi) : (X, K)→ V(Xi, Ki,Ui))Ω is an initial V-lift of

the V-structured source of Lemma 3.5 where U is given in the proof of Lemma 3.5. Proof. Let ((X, K,V)), (gi, µi) : (X, K) → V(Xi, Ki,Ui))Ω be another V-lift of

the V-structured source of Lemma 3.5, and let (h, ρ) : (X, K)→(X, K) be a ground morphism such that

∀i∈Ω, (gi, µi) = (fi, φi)◦(h, ρ).

Then (gi, µi)← = (h, ρ)(fi, φi). To prove that (h, ρ) : (X, K,V) (X, K,U)

is pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous, we shall prove that (h, ρ) : (X, K,V) →

(X, K,U) is pointwise quasi-uniformly ϕψ-continuous, take u ∈ U. Then by the proof of Lemma 3.9 we know that there exists a finite family {i1, i2,· · ·, in} ⊂ Ω and {ui1 ∈ Ui1, ui2 ∈ Ui2,· · ·, uin ∈ Uin} such that

Wn

Hence

lift of the V-structured source of Lemma 3.5, where U is given in the proof of Lemma 3.5.

Proof. Let ((X, K,V), (gi, µi) : (X, K) →V(Xi, Ki,Ui))Ω be another V-initial

lift. Now we prove thatU =V. Since both constructs are lifts, it follows immediately that

(fi, φi) =V(fi, φi) =V(gi, µi) = (gi, µi).

Let (h, ρ) : (X, K)→(X, K) by h=idX, ρ=idK. Then using the initial proper-ties of each lift, we have (h, ρ) must be pointwise quasi-uniformlyϕψ-continuous, so with gettingϕ=ψ=idwe have (h, ρ) is pointwise quasi-uniformly continuous, both from (X, K,V) to X, K,U), and from (X, K,U) to (X, K,V); the former implies U

⊂ V, and the latter impliesV ⊂ U. So U =V.

Theorem 3.8 The categoryLOCDL-PQUnif is topological over SET×LOCDL with respect to the forgetful functor V :LOCDL−PQUnif →SET×LOCDL.

Proof. With conjoining Lemma 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 and interpretation of Definition 1.3.1

in [14], we can obtain the proof.
