ABSTRACT
This paper is entitled The Analysis of Metaphors Found in Katy Perry’s Song
Lyrics discusses about the types and meaning of metaphors that exist in the lyrics of Katy Perry. In writing this paper, the writer conducts a library research method to collect the data and information by using some books and internet are related to the problem for analyzing the types of metaphor. The writer collectsthe data from the lyrics of Katy Perry‟s song, select metaphors in the song lyric, classify the metaphor, interpret the metaphors, and the lastget the conclusion the most dominant type of metaphor. The division of a metaphor in this paper refers to two things that will be compared and viewed in terms of figurative languages, metaphor divided into simile, hyperbole, personification and synecdoche. In the song's lyrics of Katy Perry, the writer found 26 metaphors that consist of 13

Kertaskarya yang berjudulThe Analysis of Metaphors Found in Katy Perry’s Song Lyrics ini membahas jenis dan makna metafora yang ada pada lirik lagu Katy Perry. Dalam penulisan kertas karya ini, penulis melakukan metode penelitian kepustakaan untuk studi kepustakaan untuk mengumpulkan data dan informasi dengan menggunakan beberapa buku dan internet yang berkaitan dengan masalah untuk menganalisis tipe-tipe metafora. Penulis mengumpulkan data metafora yang terdapat pada lirik-lirik lagu Katy Perry, menyeleksi metafora dalam lirik lagu, mengelompokkan metaforake dalam jenisnya, menginterpretasikan metafora, dan terakhir menganalisisnya untuk diambil kesimpulan jenis metafora yang paling dominan. Pembagian jenis metafora pada kertas karya ini mengacu pada dua hal yang akan dibandingkan dan dilihat dari segi figura bahasa yang membagi metafora menjadi simile, hiperbola, personifikasi and sinekdok. Dalam lirik-lirik lagu Katy Perry, penulis menemukan 26 metafora yang terdiri dari 13 simile, 9
