THE CORRELATION BETWEEN
STUDENTS’ READING SELF EFFICACY AND FINAL GRADES IN ACADEMIC READING CLASS

Abstract
This study aimed to find out the correlation between the students’ reading self efficacy and final grades in Academic Reading class of Language and Art Department Satya Wacana Christian University. Forty three students of 2009, who already took the class, were asked to fill the questionnaire as the participants. The questionnaire was adapted from Li and Wang’s (2010) questionnaire on Reading Self Efficacy part, with several adjustments to make it appropriate with this study. The final grades were from the lecturers who taught the class. All the data then analyzed using SPSS 16.0. The data were obtained from Spearman’s rho correlation analysis. The result of this study shows the students felt confident with their Reading Self Efficacy. And the correlation result showed that there was a positive significant correlation between students’ reading self efficacy and final grades.
