Abstract

This present study analyzed the correlation between Academic Listening and Public Speaking scores at English Department, Satya Wacana Christian University. The study used 50 participants from ED students of 2010 academic year who took Academic Listening and Public Speaking courses in Semester 1, 2011/2012.The data for this study were students’ final scores which were collected from the teachers of both courses. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product – Moment correlation to find out the correlation between Academic Listening and Public Speaking scores. The result of this study shows although the variance overlap was small, both sets of scores were correlated. Furthermore, more studies are needed to find out factors that may contribute to better correlation between listening and speaking skills.
