FEEDBACK IN PUBLIC SPEAKING

ABSTRACT
In all education fields, teacher cannot avoid giving feedback. Feedback is very essential in teaching and learning processes to improve students’ performance. In Public Speaking classes, teachers use more oral feedback. There are many kinds of oral feedback that has been introduced by experts. However, some teachers tend to be monotone in giving feedback. This study is conducted to find kinds of teacher’s oral feedback in Public Speaking class by doing classroom observation in Satya Wacana Christian University. The findings showed that teacher in Public Speaking class used ten of twelve kinds of feedback, and four of them used frequently. They are clarification feedback, confirmation feedback, strength and weakness feedback, and area to improve.
