Febriani Indah Pratiwi. X2211021. A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON THE TYPES OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES IN THE TENTH GRADE AT SMK N 6 SURAKARTA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014. A Thesis. Surakarta. Teacher Training and Education Faculty.SebelasMaret University. 2016.

This study is intended to (1) describe the types of learning activities in the tenth grade of at SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta in the academic year of 2013/2014, (2) describe the types of accuracy activities the teacher used, (3) describe the types of fluency activities the teacher used, and (4) describe whether the activities on fluency used is in line with the principles of communicative language teaching. This study focuses on the description of the learning activities appropriateness based on qualitative data.

The data are analyzed using interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman which covers data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion and verification. The research findings show that; (1) the learning activities in the tenth grade at SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta in the academic year of 2013/2014 is communicative learning activities. (2) the activities on accuracy used are pronunciation drill and vocabulary practice. (3) the accuracy activities used are grammar explanation, pronunciation drill, and vocabulary practice, (4)the fluency activities used are in line with meaning focused, easy task and quantity of practice principle and not all the activities used fulfill pressure to go faster than normal principle. It is suggested to the teacher to consider about detail time allocation in every activity and be more firm in giving instruction during the lesson. On the other hand the students have to be more confident in conveying their ideas or opinion.
