COMPOSITE INTERPENETRATING POLYMER NETWORKMAKING BETWEEN SIR-10 NATURAL RUBBER-POLYURETHANE
WITH TITANIUM DIOXIDEADDITIONAL CHARGERING MATERIAL
ABSTRACT
Interpenetration polymer network (IPN) has been synthesized by using SIR-10 Natural Rubber (NR) and polyurethane (PU) simultaneously then added to Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) as filler in the IPN composite formation. Prepolymer of PU has synthesized by using Polypropylene Glycol and Toluene Diisocyanates mole ratio between the NCO : OH = 2 : 1. NR vulcanised by adding Stearic Acid, Zinc Oxide, MBTS and sulfur. PU prepolymer and NR vulcanized mixed by using a temperature of 140°C to produce IPN NR-PU. The addition of TiO2 into IPN NR-PU will produce IPN NR-PU-TiO2 composite. Furthermore, IPN NR-PU-TiO2 composite that is formed characterized by Tensile Strength Test, SEM and crosslink percentage. The results showed that a mixture of IPN composites increased by increasing TiO2 until the optimum limit on the ratio between NR-PU with TiO2 is 66 phr : 34 phr provide tensile strength and good elongation. Mechanical properties, physical and IPN composite morphology is influenced by the amount of TiO2 that is used to produce components that is cross each other atthe bond interface.
