Jakarta, 28 October 2011– PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. “a poer a Agro" or the Co pa released its unaudited financial and operational results for the period ending in 30 September 2011.
Dust made of soil particles is a common sight if you were to visit our South Sumatra estates in late August 2011. The first two rows of oil palms on either side of the road throughout the plantation are pretty much covered by these soil dust as a result of little or no rainfall happening in the region. Our data shows that rainfall continues to subside significantly well into the third quarter, down by 91% versus third quarter of 2010 in Sumatra estates and 76% less in Kalimantan estates. From January till September 2011, there is 46% less rainfall in Sumatra estates and 63% less in Kalimantan estates versus the same period of last year.
Production output of the Company key products in the nine months of 2011 are better than the same period of 2010. Fresh fruit bunch FFB output climbed 42% over last ear’s figure to 1,276,224 tons. Notably, FFB contribution from third parties including our plasma farmers escalated 46% from 508,295 tons last year to 743,552 tons this year. Crude pal oil CPO production booked 46% increase from 186,255 tons produced in the same period of last year to 271,924 tons this year.
As of September 2011, Sampoerna Agro recorded revenue totalling Rp 2,516.9 billion, up 84% from Rp 1,369.1 billion booked in the same period of 2010. CPO being the main contributor to total revenue, at 83% of total, surged 81% to Rp 2,096 billion. The e t iggest reve ue o tri utor is Pal Ker el PK at 12% of total. PK contributed Rp 311.7 billion during the first nine months of 2011, or 95% higher than the figure booked within the same period of last year. These increases were largely attributable to higher sales volume at the back of greater output among these key products. At the close of September 2011, the Company managed to book net profit totalling Rp 468.6 billion.
After facing multiple challenges, construction of the Co pa ’s sago starch factory is progressing according to plan and is in its final stages of completion. The factory is expected to begin comissioning in the fourth quarter of 2011. Once completed, it will be one of the largest sago starch factory in the country with output capacity of about 100 tons of starch per day.
