Abstract
Symbolism: The Interpretation of the Tiger to Reveal the Theme in the Movie of „Life of
Pi‟ by Ang Lee

This paper researches the interpretation of the tiger in the movie „Life of Pi‟ by Ang Lee
because the writer found an assumption that the tiger used in the movie has more meaning than what it truly is so it can be used to discover the theme of the whole story of Pi. Using theoretical background of symbolism, the tiger will be interpreted as having more meaning which is supported by the whole context of the story. This work also contains a few theory of symbolism which later may help the reader to comprehend deeper toward the interpretation and later the story throughout the movie. Last thing which the reader may discover is the theme of the movie
entitled “Life of Pi”.
