The new self-published book by Chicago-area graphic designer Harry Pristovnik (The Evolution of The Automobile In Scale) immediately struck a cord with me as I strolled through the pages of elegant images and well-researched prose supporting each topic and subject. Knowing something about the author and being an admirer of his graphic design prowess...I immediately assumed that H.P., was one very luck character to have gotten access (with his camera) to what are obviously museum-quality full-size vehicles from multiple eras and historically-significant automotive styles.
The overall design of this tome is quite stunning. Literally “on-the-surface” even the most casual fan of antique, historic and vintage vehicles will enjoy an armchair trek through the full-color, one-hundred plus pages. And real aficionados of these popular topics will be amazed at the like-new condition of these iconic, historical subjects as well as absorbing a bit of valuable background on each one. Genuine, quality and factual are the first words that came to me in describing the overall craftsmanship of this notable piece of work.
At this point I was quite willing to applaud Mr. H. with a rousing...”job well done!” And then the question came creeping into my mind. Knowing that H.P., has been known to dabble in creating 3-D replicas in scale...I had to know! Harry, did you build all of these vehicles yourself? Ka-pow! The answer came back, a resounding...YES!
An interesting book. Good info on the real cars and the model kits that represent the real car. Some modeling tips. The chapters on each car let you know which kits are easy to build and which kits need a lot of time and help. I read the book from cover to cover. Being a modeler myself, I enjoyed finding out how Harry Pristovnik approached building each of the models he covered in "Evolution...." If you like cars, and models of cars,
you should like this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. You may find yourself looking for a model car kit to build after reading Harry's
book.

What a fantastic book. Not only is the history and vehicle specific golden, but the models and replicas are eye-popping, jaw dropping beautiful. This is great inspiration and reference. Mr. Pristovnik has done his homework well. The book is a must have for the serious collection, but also for the collector/modeller enthusiast. The Evolution of the Automobile in Scale is a gem of a book. I highly recommend it.
