ABSTRAK
Kertas karya ini berjudul: Gambaran dari kepribadian tokoh utama dalam novel perfume karangan Patrick Suskind. Novel ini menceritakan tentang obsesi Grenouille untuk menciptakan ‗parfum terbaik‘ yang pernah ada setelah mencium aroma seorang perawan. Tujuan dari kertas karya ini adalah untuk menemukan dan mengerti: aspek id,ego dan superego yang di gambarkan oleh tokoh utama. Sumber data dari kertas karya ini adalah novel Perfume yang di tulis oleh Patrick Suskind. Metode yang di gunakan dalam kertas karya ini adalah penelitian perpustakaan. Data dikumpulkan dengan mencari dan mengumpulkan beberapa buku yang bersangkutan dengan kertas karya. Kesimpulan dari kertas karya ini adalah: (1) aspek id dari tokoh utama muncul ketika dia menemukan aroma indah dari seorang gadis muda yang dia temui. Dia membunuh kapan saja dan dimana saja ketika dia menemukan aroma indah seorang gadis. Tidak ada yang dapat menghentikannya dari gairahnya pada parfum. (2) Aspek ego dari tokoh utama muncul dalam bentuk kesedihan, ketakutan, rasa ingin tahu dan kecemasan. (3) Aspek superego dari tokoh utama muncul ketika Grenouile setuju menjadi anak Antoine Richis setelah dia membunuh putrinya. Meskipun Grenouile tidak ingin menjadi anak Antoine Richis, tapi setelah dia melihat wajah Antoine Richis, akhirnya dia setuju. Artinya Grenouille punya sisi yang baik. Dia tidak ingin membuat Antoine Richis kecewa dengan menolak tawarannya setelah putrinya terbunuh. Ini membuktikan bahwa Grenouille masih memiliki sisi baik.

ABSTRACT
The title of this paper is : A Description of the Leading Character‘s Personality in Patrick Suskind‘s Novel Perfume. The novel tells the story about Grenouille's obsession to create the 'best perfume' ever having smelled the scent of a virgin. The aims of this paper are to discover and understand : aspect of id, ego, and superego portrayed in the leading character‘s. The source of data in this paper was the novel Perfume written by Patrick Suskind‘s. The method of this paper used library research. The data were gathered by searching and collecting some books which are relevant. The conclusion of this paper are: (1) The id aspect of the leading character‘s appears when he finds a new scent from a young girl that he meets. He murders anytime and anywhere he finds wonderful scent of a girl. Nobody can stop him, from his passion on perfume. (2) The ego aspect of the leading character‘s appears in the form of sadness, fear, curiousity, anxiety. (3) The superego aspect of the leading character‘s appears when Grenouille agrees to be the son of Antoine Richis after Grenouille has killed his daughter. Although Grenouille doesn‘t want to be Richis‘ son but after sees Richis‘s face, finally he agreed. It means that Grenouille has a good side. He doesn‘t want to make Antoine Richis disappointed by refusing his offer after killing his daughter. It proves that Grenouille still has a good side.
