The 5th WBPWG meeting 11-12 July 2007 Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam

1. The attendance of Member Countries in the WBPWG Meetings have been poor. ACCSQ has responded to the concern of WBPWG on the lack of participation by Member Countries. The ACCSQ agreed to encourage Member Countries to actively participate in the activities of WBPWG and requested the ACCSQ Leaders to follow up internally in their respective countries.

ACCSQ may wish consider this recommendation and give their views

2. The Meeting took note of the status of the exchange information on

transparency of wood-based products’ standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures only from Indonesia and Malaysia’. In the other side Brunei Darussalam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Philippines should be to update the status of exchange information by the next meeting

ACCSQ may wish consider this note and give their views.

3. The Meeting noted that only Malaysia and Indonesia responded to the survey on Harmonisation of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment for identified areas eventhough The Member Countries which have not responded will submit their response as soon as possible

4 The Meeting was given a briefing on the PAN European Forest Certification (PEFC) process, the European standardisation process, and the use of the Keymark and the CE Marking. The Meeting was also updated on the mechanism for non-CEN members to participate in the CEN Technical Committees as Partner Standardisation Bodies (PSB). As a PSB, national standards bodies will have to commit to implementing as national standards the European standards developed by CEN Technical Committee in which they participate.

5. WBPWG seek the support of ACCSQ to follow up The Project Proposal

from AADCP (ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Programmes) for Wood Sector

6. The WBPWG Meeting considered and adopted the Report of the fifth Meeting of the Wood Based Product Working Group held from 11-12 July 2007 in Bandar Seri BegawanBrunei darussalam
