RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN ECONOMIC INTEGRATION
The ASEAN Secretariat will brief the Meeting on the outcome of the recent meetings on economic integration and the relevant decisions made related to standards and conformance.
The Meeting may wish to consider and discuss follow-up actions as necessary.
AGENDA ITEM 4: HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 5TH WBPWG MEETING
The WBPWG Secretariat will brief the Meeting on the relevant decisions made at the 5th WBPWG meeting held from 11-12 July 2007 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, and follow-up actions taken.
The Meeting may wish to discuss pending issues under the appropriate agenda item.
AGENDA ITEM 5: TRANSPARENCY OF WOOD-BASED PRODUCTS’
STANDARDS, TECHNICAL REGULATIONS, AND CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES
5.1. Networking among ASEAN Member Countries on standards,
2 Member Countries to update the Meeting on their standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment procedures for wood-based products.
The Meetingmay wish to discuss and give further updates as appropriate.
5.2. Networking of ASEAN Member Countries with non-ASEAN trading
partners on standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures
Malaysia to update the Meeting on international and regional standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures related to wood-based products.
The Meeting may wish to discuss the development of a list of Member Countries’ accredited testing/certification bodies for wood based products.
AGENDA ITEM 6: IDENTIFICATION OF AREAS FOR
HARMONISATION OF STANDARDS, TECHNICAL REGULATIONS AND CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES
6.1. Comparative study on standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures of ASEAN Member Countries
Malaysia will present the updated comparative study on standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures of Member Countries and propose recommendations on the possible areas for harmonisation of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures.
The Meetingmay wish to discuss and consider follow-up actions as required.
6.2 Harmonisation of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment for identified areas
The Meeting will discuss possible areas for harmonisation of standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures and identify the lead countries as required.
AGENDA ITEM 7: OTHER MATTERS
7.1. EU assistance in the wood-based sector for ASEAN
The Meeting may wish to discuss and identify areas for technical assistance from EU in the wood-based products sector.

7.2. Proposals to AADCP for technical assistance
The ASEAN Secretariat to update the Meeting on the status of the project proposals to AADCP for technical assistance in establishments of national quality systems for the wood-based product sector and reaching a regional approach for standards in the wood-based products sector under the ASEAN-Australia/New Zealand FTA
AGENDA ITEM 8: CONSIDERATION AND ADOPTION OF THE
WBPWG WORK PROGRAMME
The Meetingwillupdate the Work Programme as appropriate and adopt it.
