CPO FINALLY MAKING A COMEBACK
Jakarta, 30 April 2012 – PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. and subsidiaries “a poer a Agro" or the
Co pa released its unaudited financial and operational results for the period ending in 31 March 2012.
Market pri e for Crude Pal Oil CPO fi all began to make its first upward move from Rm3,014/ton in fourth quarter 2011 to Rm3,218/ton in first quarter 2012, its first break after making three consecutive drops in quarterly average. The increase has also affected the Company selling price positively. Sampoerna Agro sold its CPO with an average price of Rp7,676/kg within the first quarter 2012, or 6% higher than its fourth quarter 2011 average.
But when we compare year-on-year YoY , the 2012 price of Rm3,218/ton is still 12% lower versus the
same period last year. This is the main cause for the 10% drop in revenue for the period ending in 31 March 2012. Within the first quarter 2012, Sampoerna Agro managed to record Rp683.52 billion in revenue.
Despite 8% lower average selling price in the first quarter 2012 versus first quarter of 2011, revenue contribution from CPO managed to climb 2% higher to Rp612.04 billion. Reason for the increase was inventory sell down resulting in higher sales volume of CPO in the first quarter 2012 by 11% versus the same period of last year, amidst 31% lower output in 2012.
The Company produced 56,709 tons of CPO between January till March 2012, or 31% lower than the same period of last year. Total Fresh Fruit Bu h FFB output was 258,099 tons, 33% lower versus 383,673 tons recorded in first quarter of 2011. The output figure consisted of FFB production from its nucleus estates as well as FFB purchased from third parties which were mostly from its plasma farmers under guidance.
After passing food safety test from Bada Pe gawas O at da Maka a BPOM on 15 February earlier this year, Prima Starch, the Company sago starch product, managed to obtain another certification. This time by Majelis Ula a I do esia through their Halal ertifi ate o 14 April 2012.
