ABSTRACT

This research focuses on the address terms and Tu – Vous dimension used by married Javanese_{families and married}Chinese_{families especially on husbands}

and wives. This research also compares married Javanese_{families and married}

Chinese_{families on the usage address terms to know which families are more}

democratic. Besides, this research also describes about the Tu _–Vous_dimension

which is used by married Javanese_{families and married}Chinese_{families based}

on the status factor in the family. The writer collected the data from the interview with 5 married Javanese_{families and 5 married}Chinese_{families. The writer also}

collected the data from the questionnaires which were distributed to 100 families who come from 50 married Javanese_{families and 50 married}Chinese_{families. In}

this research, it was found that in the married Javanese_{families (49 %), husbands}

addressed their wives using Tu_{dimension and received}Vous_{dimension in return.}

It shows that in married Javanese_{families there is an asymmetrical relation}

between husbands and wives. On the contrary, in the married Chinese_{families (37}

%), husbands and wives called each other using Tu_{dimension. It indicated that in}

married Chinese families there is a symmetrical relationship between husbands and wives. Moreover, the Chinese _{families are more democratic than}Javanese

Penelitian ini difokuskan pada kata sapaan dan dimensi Tu – Vous yang digunakan oleh keluarga Jawa_{dan keluarga}Cina_{yang sudah menikah terutama pada suami}

dan istri. Pada penelitian ini juga membandingkan keluarga apa yang lebih demokratis, antara keluarga Jawa_{dan keluarga}Cina_{didalam penggunaan kata}

sapaan. Selain itu, dalam penelitian ini juga membahas tentang penggunaan dimensi Tu_–Vous_{yang digunakan oleh keluarga}Jawa_{dan keluarga}Cina_yang

sudah menikah yang berdasarkan oleh faktor status dalam keluarga. Penulis mengumpulkan data dari interview dengan 5 keluarga Jawa_{dan 5 keluarga}Cina_.

Penulis juga mengumpulkan data dari kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada 100 keluarga yang berasal dari 50 keluarga Jawa_{dan 50 keluarga}Cina_{. Pada}

penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa 49 % keluarga Jawa_{, yaitu suami memanggil}

istrinya menggunakan dimensi Tu_{dan menerima dimensi}Vous_{. Hal ini}

menunjukkan bahwa di keluarga Jawa_{terdapat hubungan asimetris antara suami}

dan istri. Sebaliknya, pada 37 % keluarga Cina_{antara suami dan istri}

menggunakan dimensi Tu_{untuk memanggil satu sama lain. Hal ini}

mengindikasikan bahwa di keluarga Cina terdapat hubungan simetris antara suami dan istri. Terlebih lagi keluarga Cina _{lebih demokratis dibandingkan dengan}
