8 background and experience to the song lyrics based on language expression point of view. Furthermore, the study concerned with the way of the writer of the songs express their idea, opinion, suggestion and even his argumentation which influence by the background of the composer. The study chose two of EMINEM songs “My
Name is”and “If I had Lyric.” The study categorized as a qualitative study in which
the researcher analyzed the song lyrics in descriptive way. In the following study, the researcher analyzed the obtained data by using the expressive approach in which supported several personal data which has significant relationship to the composer’ background, such as times related to when and where he or she was born, his or her education and social status, the social culture background, believes, his view about life and the social group view. The finding of this study is to find out the relation of composer’s expression, personality, feelings and thoughts, perceptions, about life and society to language choice in the song’ lyrics. The results indicated that composer’ background was significantly related to his work especially in revealing his idea, opinion suggestion and argumentation about life. It is suggested for the future studies to investigate and compare two or more various songs’ lyrics from the different composer so that it is able and easier for us to understand and comprehend the impact of composer’ background to his/ her works.
