ABSTRACT
Vocabulary is one important component for foreign language students understand and communicate successfully with other people. Some problems may happen if they receive uncommon words from the teachers/ textbooks. The objective of this study was to analyze what is vocabulary profile, proportion of vocabulary that is not covered, and token (words) recycling index in English course textbook used in SMPN 7 Salatiga entitled ‘Think Globally Act Locally’ for grade IX. The analysis used Vocabulary Profiler which was developed by Cobb (1999). The study used descriptive method to analyze the result. Then, the study disclosed three major findings; (1) overall vocabulary profile, (2) negative vocabulary profile of K-1, K-2, and AWL, also block frequency output of off-list words, the last (3) two comparison of the chapter in the textbook.
