ABSTRACT
Every city have historic area, one of them Benteng Kuto Besak Area in Palembang City. This area have high historical inheritance as historic building, infrastructure, and other physical object which is potential as tourism asset. However, city growth to modern cause historic building dissolved then build modern building so that area identity threat lose. Base on Planning of Urban Space in Palembang, Benteng Kuto Besak area have been decided as cultural pledge area which exploited as tourism area. Therefore, area conservation study must done so that known conservation effort of appropriate applied in this historic area to support area as tourism asset. Conservation study of this research include of history and area development, physical and non physical condition, development element of area tourism, and area conservation effort.
