My great gratitude to my beloved parents, Mr. Poniman Martomenawi and
Mrs. Prastuty Effendi, who always give prayers, supports, advices, and loves to me
so I could be in this greatest situation. Because so far, the biggest thing I've ever
made in my life is to become a bachelor’s degree, and I hope this will make you both
to be quite proud of me. Thanks to my brothers, Andi Pranoto and Ade Pramono,
who have made me realize that life is not easy to live. Thanks to my sister, Fitria
Purwanti who has become a faithful sister and always loves me sincerely. To my
brother and sisters-in-law, my nieces and nephews (Al, Lila, Filia, Shabira and

ABSTRAK
Skripsi ini berjudul LEADING CHARACTER’S PERSONALITY AS REFLECTED BY STEPHEN CHBOSKY’S NOVEL THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER. Skripsi ini membahas tentang kepribadian dari karakter utama bernama Charlie yang dibagi ke dalam Id, Ego, dan SuperEgo. Adapun teori yang digunakan dalam analisis ini adalah Teori Psikoanalisis yang dikembangkan oleh Sigmund Freud. Di dalam tulisan ini penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang menjelaskan analisis sesuai dengan uraian hasil penelitian yang terkait. Dan dari hasil analisis tersebut, penulis memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa dalam mengambil setiap keputusan, Charlie dikendalikan oleh libido melalui Id, Ego dan SuperEgo. Kepribadian Charlie lebih didominasikan oleh tekanan dari Id yang membuatnya menjadi pemurung.
ABSTRACT
This thesis entitled LEADING CHARACTER’S PERSONALITY AS REFLECTED IN STEPHEN CHBOSKY’S NOVEL THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER. This thesis discusses about the personality of the leading character, named Charlie which is divided into Id, Ego, and SuperEgo. The theory that is used in this analysis is the Psychoanalysis Theory developed by Sigmund Freud. The writer uses the descriptive-qualitative method that describes the analysis according to the description of the results related to the research in this thesis. And the results of this analysis, the writer comes to the conclusion that in taking any decisions, Charlie is controlled by libido through the Id, Ego and SuperEgo. Personality of Charlie is more dominated by the impulse of the Id that makes him to be a melancholic person.
