Bila-bila masa syarikat menghantar e-mel, selain dari pengesahan pesanan dan respons langsung terhadap pertanyaan pelanggan, itu boleh dianggap sebagai bentuk pemasaran e-mel. Pemasaran e-mel adalah salah satu segmen pemasaran internet, yang merangkumi pemasaran dalam talian melalui laman web, media sosial, blog, dan banyak lagi.

Pemasaran e-mel boleh merangkumi buletin dengan kemas kini mengenai syarikat, atau promosi penjualan dan tawaran eksklusif untuk pelanggan. E-mel pemasaran juga mungkin bertujuan untuk menyampaikan mesej umum bagi pihak syarikat, seperti ketika berlaku bencana alam atau skandal syarikat.

Pada tahap yang terbaik, pemasaran e-mel membolehkan perniagaan membuat maklumat pelanggan dan menyesuaikan pesanan pemasaran mereka kepada khalayak mereka. Paling teruk, pemasaran seperti ini dapat menjauhkan pelanggan dengan e-mel spam yang selalu mengganggu.
